Discussion - does price/labels really matter for clothes?

Congax i'm going to sound harsh and i apologise, but do you hang around with people so obsessed with their image, you feel you need to wear labels to fit in? Don't worry, i'm not going all psychological on you, but i cant work out why you feel you need to wear them to be comfortable.

Normally (my opinion of course) someone who does this is self concious about their image.

Am interested as to why you do this...

With regard to shoes, I guess I'm the same as bugz, I kept buying cheap pairs and I walk 40 minutes to work and back everyday, and literally they kept disintergrating at the end of every month. I went through 3 pairs like this at a pop.

I thought fuck it, and I bought some Lambretta jobbies, and for £50 they've lasted me 7 months so far.

Couldn't really care about work clothes so used to do the same, go thru £12 pairs of crappy shoes from ASDA George range 4tehwin. I also walk in, about 40mins each way.

tbh they take about 3 weeks to wear in, this horrible plastic with no give at all, during which time ur 1/2 crippled. After 3 months or so the sole splits so you get wet feet when it rains. Then ur back to a new pair and being crippled for best part of a month again. It's worth spending the cash here.

5 years ago, I wouldnt wear anything other than Lacoste, Henri Lloyd, North Sails, Armani or Ralph Lauren. Now I dont care as long as it looks nice. I still have a load of clothes from said designers, but I also have loads of stuff from places like Topman and next. Only thing i wont wear is Henleys. I think its awful.

I do like my rockports though, I suppose they are my biggest extravagance. And before anyone cries "chav", i was wearing them 13 years ago, years before they became fashionable

Not quite no (and you weren't even being harsh, Bugz has said the same thing on MSN ) I'm guessing it's more to do with the way I'm raised. Both my mom & dad only buy and wear label. I guess I just rolled right into it...? Anywho, it's just feels more comfortable and there's really nothing psychological about it.

For footwear I have a couple of Sendra Boots, and a pair of army boots. Sendra boots were €180~€200 per pair, and army boots were €95 per pair.
Those things, when properly treated, will last you a lifetime, so their price may seem steep when buying them, but they're definately worth it.

For clothing... I really couldn't care less what brand it is, as long as they feel good. For jeans that's usually Jack&Jones though, but bought in the discount they're €35~€45. also, the V&D housebrand (or I presume it's their housebrand) Soho, which isn't expensive, has a good fit aswell.
The shop "We" usually has nice clothing aswell. H&M, that's a no-go. May be cheap and all, but doesn't last you longer than a couple of washes. They make great fitting cheap boxers though.
Socks? woolen army socks for the army boots, and thin cotton socks for the sendra's. Don't care about the brand, aslong as they don't have the thick seam over the toes that starts to hurt after 500m of walking.

Oh as for K-swiss. I wear a pair. They're comfy as fuck, they cost me £50 but i deem shoes different to normal clothes, thats something i'm willing to spend more on because comfort is more important (and they generally last longer if you pay more for them).

i hate silly labels all over the place. pretty much all the shoes i buy are branded though, well vans, new rocks, dc's. bought a pair of vans for my 18th, now 22 and the sole has only just started to wear out, best £30 i ever spent. my new rocks will never die and i love them for that. hate shoes that take ages to break in so dont mind spending money on them

refuse to buy anything apart from the funky pants from primark because everything just shrinks, bobbles or falls apart. i just buy unbranded shite off the internet or camden.

got bought a designer purse for xmas last year and my sister moaned at me for sticking my little pony stickers over it, its only a silly purse!!!

By the way, haven't bought even a t-shirt in, oh, 2 years or so.

Got plenty from previous years, jeans still hold up, socks and other necessary stuff come in perfect intervals at xmas/midsummer holiday from grandma.

Got better use for cash then a nudity prohibiter.

Last jeans i bought were about 10 euro, last tshirt about 2.

I bought a ziphood for 165e a time ago.. not becouse the item was from LRG, but purely becouse of the looks. However, if I feel like spending some cash on cloths ( Often after I have spotted something really unique/nice ) I do tend to go towards the shops of a few chosen labells, like LRG for example, where I know Im guaranteed to find something.

For most of my shopping I go to the few shops where I know I can find good and notsopricy clothes.

generally i dont like clothes that have a label splashed across them, that isnt to say that i dont like labeled clothes, i usually find they have the nicest designs and are often the better fitting and quality. But i have a range of clothes from all sorts of shops, with labels and not.

The only label i would say i like on my clothes is the good old adidas originals but when i look at clothes i look at how they look not who made them.

But that doesnt mean labels arent important, just that i know clothes from certain labels look better even if they are a bit more expensive.

When it comes down to trousers i'm willing to spend a bit more just because they last alot longer and that little bit extra is good, jeans usually end up being around £40 though i did just pick up an awesome pair for £20 in a sale. personally i dont like labels like DKNY or FCUK or Ralph Lauren or anything of that nature, but i do like some labels, firestrap being one of my favourit for t-shirts, or drunknmonkey and i will go for those labels just because they do look nice and i love them.

Generally have a few brands that I stick to (Anything from Blue Inc really) since they have NO lables that show at all. Can't stand going out in labled clothes. Only thing on me atm is my shoes, which have big 'E's on each side.

I used to buy all my clothes really cheaply from camden loch market but then when i got a job i began buying carhartt most of the time.

Looks better, a lot more comfortable and much more durable.

Although saying that i've practically been living in my £1.50 german army top recently

Yes i meant more the people who say "Well, i wear what i wear, clothes don't really mean anything to me" while prancing around in designer clothes that look like something spit them out of a technicolor commercial.

Designer clothes=bad.
Buying designer clothes because the designer makes good, solid shirts and such= better.
Good clothes, end of.=good.
