Discussion - does price/labels really matter for clothes?

Me and congax/sleez were discussing this.

He pays ~£40+ per labelled item and says he wouldn't dare leave the house without wearing labells.

I say that labels aren't important at all and that you shouldn't pay prices for in effect, a label on an item.

I compromise and say that if your are atleast going to buy labels, do so using Ebay, where you can quite easily spot the genuines and save a good amount of money (i.e. £10-15 quid per authentic ralph lauren polos on ebay - £35 in the shops).

What's your stance on this? Labels deffo? No labels what-so-ever? Or labels as long as they are reasonably priced (charity shops/sales/ebay)?

Most of my clothes don't have designer labels, and I do not care about that, I go off pure looks and appearance of them.

Bought 3 t-shirts for 4euros each last week and they seem really nice

I didn't say I wouldn't dare. I just wouldn't feel comfortable tbh, I enjoy wearing labels and I don't mind paying full price for them.

If i like the look of it and it's reasonably priced ill buy it.

I practically live out of Primark at uni because it's so ridicolously cheap and you get the same quality from any other high street shop.

Generally i don't shop for clothes on ebay because i have to try them on

I buy jeans that fit well, regardless of the label. Although the best pair of jeans I've got are Duck&Cover.

Tshirts, its normally the slogan/motif on the front that pulls me in rather than the label

I really don't get that! Surely it matters, more than two fucks even. I just don't feel comfortable wearing a regular Joe tshirt, I find labels to fit better, and even feel better.

Ofcourse, the look matters aswell, but generally label clothes have some pretty nice looks. So it's a winwin!

I generally wear clothes that I can affrd but still look good.

So thats no for paying over 30 quid for a shirt, over 50 for jeans etc.

Hell, get yourself into Primark, some of their stuff looks good and more expensive that it really is!

There is one thing I will NOT buy, and that is cheap trainers like Hi tec.

price matters in that i find buying a pair of trousers for £4 doesnt give me the length of wear for a pair that costs £30.

usually i just go for utility value though.

I don't really care about labels, neither do I look at the price tbh.. I just look for something that looks nice/cool and fits me nicely.. if its a label than thats great, if its not than thats not a problem for me.

And tbh labels say nothing, I hate those 18 year olds showing off with their burbury, ralph lauren etc clothes. Its only a fuckin label..

The money isin't an issue, if I like a top, regardless of the label I'll buy it.

I have a top I pad £60 for and sitting right next to it is a £4 shirt from Primark, I really don't care.

Imo clothes are important ( atleast for me ), I wear designer labels... I dont care how high priced the cloth part is, if I like it then I'll buy it. However I dont buy them to brag with it.

I will buy t-shirts I like but they always seem to be around 45-50 pounds, unless I get a quirky one off the net. The rest of my gear is Diesel and J Lindeberg I have 9 pairs of trainers and 4 pairs of shoes. I love spending money on clothes and I like how I feel in clothes that I like.

I have no doubt it does not matter what you wear, but if it makes you comfortable and you can afford it I say buy what you want. Sure we have had this conversation before. I spend silly amounts of money on Clinique for men products and I own 15 different aftershaves. My current Fav is Vera Wang for Men the chicks fucking love it.

Seriously though - ebay is such a great tool for bargains - all you rich hoes should use it and donate money to us poor hoes.

Some people don't like to spend money on clothes and others do like to spend money on it. It is the same with everything, IE some people are happy in a Lada and other people prefer a BMW, Porsche or whatever! If you have the money buy it id say.

Do you know whats bad, my real life wardrobe cost's less than my Live Action Roleplay one. Labels mean fuck all to me tbh, what difference does it make?

I buy all my T-Shirts/jeans/hoodies from H&M or Pri-mark. If it lasts 2 months so be it, atleast it's only a couple of quid (so far all my t-shirts have lasted a whole year of uni - save the one that has loads of holes in it from rock climbing).

With regard to shoes, I guess I'm the same as bugz, I kept buying cheap pairs and I walk 40 minutes to work and back everyday, and literally they kept disintergrating at the end of every month. I went through 3 pairs like this at £12 a pop.

I thought fuck it, and I bought some Lambretta jobbies, and for £50 they've lasted me 7 months so far.

K-swiss is more netrual, I wouldn't say they're chav trainers, the're plain & comfortable trainers, I stupidly have two pairs, neither of which fit me anymore so my dad stole them.
