Digicams!!!

I've set myself a budget of 200 quid.

I've been looking at a load of cameras..

Fuji Finepix A204

Canon Powershot A40

Olympus Camedia C220

Are in my list at the mo.

I'm hoping to order this sometime on Wednesday and with any luck it'll arrive in time for BarryBeer. Or I might wander over to Totenham Court Road if I can get a longer than usual lunch break.

I'm keen for the camera to have the following things....

2m pixel minimum

TV-out (I'm flexible on this as long as it's a lot better than one without it)

LCD Screen

Optical zoom would be nice.

Any ideas guys? Reckon any of those I've chosen above are worth it?
Any recommendations of where to buy it that could reliably deliver for Friday by 12pm?

They all seem decent for the price.

www.internetcamerasdirect.co.uk inlude free next day delivery and the cameras are usualy cheaper too.

I know they are reliable as I have used them before (so have most of the guys at work)

I was going to bring my TRW-led Passive Millimeter Wave Camera to barrybeer but I leant it to NASA and they said how big and phallic and shiny it was, and I couldn't have carried it anyway because its so fantastic people would kill me just to lick it, and also it is heavy and my arms are weak.





My other camera is a Superdrug disposable one :(

think you'll find the majority of people with digicams have fuji ones... there's a reason for this :>

go for fuji...

if you don't go for fuji, try and stick to someone that actually made real cameras before digicams were around... the exception to this is sony... who make the ccd's for lots of digicams, so give them hot-loving if you can afford it....

but generally fuji, nikon, sony == great stuff.

oh and don't think that the whole superCCD thing some fuji's have is a marketing gimmick.... ask luap - they really do have fantastic picture quality.

What exactly does that mean? I'm guessing the 2.0 million part is effectively bull.

Now I get it, its the res multiplied!
I've always wondered (not having one) what the fuck that meant.

I notice that camera only has digital zoom, thats bad. I know this 'cus my DV Cam has both, optical is good, digital just enlarges the existing image. Imagine zooming an image in PSP or what ever you use, same thing.

Nah it's 3x Optical zoom.

It's in my shopping basket right now along with 128 megs of memory. 268 quid. Eek.

Dunno. I have always put off buying a half decent digital camera cos you hear so many mixed reviews of them. Even the best ones get people saying, "it's not as good as this cheaper one" or whatever.

Hmmm. Still thinking.....

I DID IT!!

268 quid incl 128 meg memory card in a swish little brushed metalic holder. :)

Let's hope it's worth it....

nikon + canon = win.
fuji = mine. And the stupid lens shutter thing's mechanism is borked, so it doesn't see anything except black. Fab.

it's not like the pretend megabyte vs the real megabyte thing...

the deal is the CCD has a grid of pixels that make the picture yeh? well if you multiply 1600*1200 you'll realise the answer is 1920000....

what the other extra pixels are used for is stuff like measuring colour levels, white balance or shit like that - they aren't actually used to make the picture but they are used by the camera... if you get me?

Of course it is :)

The average punter will be taking pictures of his c0x0r in 1024x768 anyway.
