Diablo 1 is a cheater's paradise, but I dont think Blizzard supports it anymore in the form of B.Net?

Diablo 2 is still very much alive on B.Net with rankings etc. Last time I played it I installed a mod and had a blast with that for a few weeks when I had nothing else to do. I made a post about it, but cba to find it now. Im sure if you search for it the thread should pop up.

You can buy it all digitally off Battlenet, failry cheap too. I installed it a few months ago for something to play and had a good laugh with it. Still a fun game to play even though graphically its showing its age.

You can use any valid CD-key to register on Battlenet and download the client from there.

It's a tenner for Diablo 2 and a tenner for the expansion. So 20 quid all together but no monthly subscription fee etc.
