A socially disadvantaged individual, not neccisarily intelligent. Many so called nerds believe that they are looked down upon for thier intelligence. "Nerds," must realize that this is simply not true. They must come to understand that they are despised because of thier lack of social skills, and thier reclusive habits. Many Nerds are products of overprotective childhoods, so while other children mature quickly, make friends, join sports teams, and get girlfriends, the "nerd" is still in shock over adolescence. The author of this article himself is an athlete, is considered popular by many people, at yet maintains a 3.7 GPA. Too many people believe that being good at sports or being "popular" means sacrificing education. As an ending note, I would like to point out that many nerds think that they will rule the world. Unfortunatly, reality is not so kind to these perceptions. When looking at an average job, employers consider intelligent people who can communicate with people. An applicant cannot be a reclusive intellectual who cannot communicate with coworkers. Nerds simply end up working for people. Intelligent, agressive people can rise in corperations and/or start thier corperations. Please do not look towards Bill Gates, because Gates was and still is a thief with glasses. He stole and is still copying programs, OS charecteristics, and hardware concepts from Apple Computers.

I'd define a nerd by the way he/she looks and acts...

just coz u play alot of games dont make u a nerd... are footballers nerds coz they play football all the time?
also u might go out all the time but still act like mong!
So just coz u socialize dont make u a non-nerd
