Anyway lets give you a few more options

- Aberlour 15, Sherry Wood
- Cragganmore 12
- The Balvenie 21 Port Wood
- The Balvenie 12 double wood
- The Balvenie 1970 Vintage Cask
- Talisker 18 "I love this one"
- Talisker 10 "slightly on the sharp side tho so donno?"

well thats it for now, they should all "I think" be around 30-45 quid

I forgot one!
I often tend to forget the Macallan due to the older version being more smokey and I dono why but I always want it to be smoky even the young ones.

- The Macallan 15 Fine Oak

Have you ever tried some of the "better" single cask bourbons ?
They are nothing like your typical Jack Danials, Jeam Beams ect

Nice bottle on that JD Single Barrel

aye they are all like that,
and no two bottles taste quite the same, and as I said,
these are "real" bourbons you cannot compare it to what you buy at the supermarket.

and you get alot of quality for price, but allas bourbon is a matter of taste,
just like smoked/unsmoked, double distill or trippel ect and so on....

cask strength or or standart

well I could go on and on

i havent tried them yet tdc. im tempted to open the laphraig and give some to my mam and dad too. its reserved for the people who appreciate it. i bet most people coming to my party would either shot it or add some coke and a slice of lemon.

sharma, dont think i am going out. i was going to go out tomorrow but my best mate is coming from manc and will be at mine at 9 so another old friend is gonna come round too. then im having a big bash on sat at my house, which you could come to if you wanted. preferably with women cos we are lacking them atm!

otherwise we can add the pint to the reserve bank. i might be making to music live too.

just had a dram.

first thing to say is you can definatley notice the extra 8%. youll be burning down to your balls. initial sips are very sweet and it has an oak smell. a few more and you can taste the salt in there and gradually it turns a bit smokier with a sweet lingering taste.

the smell sticks right in your nose.

add all that to the 10 year old laphroaig and thats it.

the glenfiddich is pretty good. not sure if its the 12 ive had before or the 18.
definatley one for the less experienced drinker. you can tell its lacking the extra alcohol of the laphroaig.
very sweet and smells very nice. i dont know what peat and moss etc means so i cant tell you there. its a lot lighter in colour.
initially its very sweet and develops into a deeper taste, a lot more earthy.

Tris:
If you like whiskies and want to learn more, why not signup for a some tasting corses ?
they exits in many forms.

the best I know are tho's related to particular pubs,
Go find a pub near you that has a wide virieaty of whiskies and find out if they hold tasting "seminars" nights, this is a great way to learn more about whiskies and brandys
and the whats what and you get to meet fellow enthusiasts wich imo in the long run will teach you far more than any "setup class" will ever do, and by attending you get to explore alot of different whiskies also tho's that at the none affordable end for a single individual. and with time you can pick up tho's you like to your own private collection.

im afraid cultural things like that just dont exist where i live.

round here the local tasting nights involve downing pints of stella and having fights with the police.

i wonder if there is a society at my university.

not a specialist place ran by people in the know.

they are all multinational convenience type places.
its possibly the worst place in the world!

the closest one ive got is a place called the whisky shop and thats about 40 odd miles away.

picked up a bottle of jura.

bit of an odd one to be honest. there is nothing striking about it, but at the same time its fucking delightful on the nose and the mouth.
a lot different to the other two ive got.

Tris.

Big tip mate for whisky and stuff like that.

The metro centre in gateshead has a shop in there specialising in a lot of different types of whisky, ranging from supermarket available all the way to really rare whiskys (50 year old glenfiddich anyone?).

They also have a 5L bottle of Bells in there heh.

It's a fantastic store and I was really overcome when I popped in, you can get so so many different whiskys in there it's insane!

picked up this today -

Auchentoshan 12 Year old

id recommend it if -

you want something different, its made near glasgow. the distillery was apparently founded by irish pilgrims in the 1800s and the whisky is triple distilled.
you want fruit over smoke
you want isle of jura with a bigger kick
you liked glengoyne 10yo
