Argh! o2 are annoying me.

I renewd my contract with them back in June/July (basicly because its the only network that will work at college so not much choice).

I was supposed to get 200minutes, 400texts and £10 off linerental and £10 credited back so I could have an additional 100 texts making it 500texts.

My billing dates start on the 2nd of every month, normally.
Therefore having lots of free minutes I used a few hours worth of calls on the 30th April and 1st May.

Much to my surprise I got the bill and had only used 60minutes. Then I checked this months bill and its started from 30th so it's now eaten away at this months minutes and last months are in essense wasted.

Then theres the texts. I sent 587 texts last month but was billed £19.07 in texts, which means im not getting my 500texts (and theres no 10 credit back either, though o2 claim I shouldnt even need credit back now as it should just be an additional 100texts I get)

I have phoned several times one person put me on hold and then hung up after about 5minutes, another kind of understood, assured me it was fine, but its really not fine. I'd be credited back for minutes on 30th and 1st if I phoned up in a few weeks, but that dosn't help me now because I can't make any calls for fear of a big bill.

The text thing, god knows how much money they've conned out of me for only giving 400texts a month rather than 500. And the 400 is debatable because this month ive sent 294, and they said I had 6 left.

How am I supposed to solve confusing matters like this? I'm having to chase my bill monthly to query things, which is a right pain in the arse trying to explain things to people over the phone, i'd much rather have a network that dosn't fuck up and gives me a decent amount of texts/minutes :(

if your contract says 500 texts and they are only giving 300 (as it seems) take them to court and sue for breach of condition.

I dont actually know what im getting, neither do they. I don't have a contract here on hand, its all done over the phone, I arranged the minutes and texts over the phone when I renewed..

the contract doesnt have to be written, it could be oral or defined by conduct. though it is more difficult when the terms are not written down.
surely it must say on your bill how many inclusive texts you have?

just ring up retentions, tell them you are leaving (even if you are still in your contract period) tell them its because "insert problem" and hey presto they fix problem..

unlike the other customer support (sic) teams, iirc they actually have to account for the calls they take so the onus is on them to fix the fault or get the right info for you.

or i could just give you the chaimans email address.....

This is bollocks. We cannot touch an account unless they have 60 days to go on their contract, any earlier they have to go through to customer care like anyone else. We are paid on conversion, i.e number of calls per deal, so any calls we can't do a deal on are swiftly transferred to customer care. Especially frothing at the mouth lunatics like brooky.

Oh and Earl, you've been misled. What the salesman has done you is 400 texts and knocked £10 off your line rental. 100 texts with 02 cost you £10. 400 + 100 = 500 and hey presto, your 500 texts. You actually only have 400 texts inclusive, you just have an extra discount to accomodate the extra texts, that's why you're being charged £19 - in reality you're only paying £9 above the standard rental. Not exactly a con, but not exactly crystal clear either. Altho I just re-read your post and see the £10 hasn't turned up - that is a major issue, the salesman clearly hasn't put the discount on. Out of interest, did you phone O2 retentions or did they phone you?

P.S. You send 584 texts a month? What are you a bird?

Ring someone's mobile when they're with you and ask them what number comes up on their screen.

It's normally printed on your receipt or delivery note somewhere, after the curious TLA CTN.

the only phone number printed on it is my old one, which i supplied a pac code to transfer over. i thought id surely get a temporary number though, as i always did with other providers?

it also says sim inactive on the phone its self, will it not activate then until my number moves over?

what a shitter. it appears the memory stick that comes with it doesnt work (phoned up S.E. about it, and thats what they said). i phoned vodafone and the welsh bint says i have to take it into the store for replacement. is this right, because i cant be arsed to go all the way town and they say "nowt to do with us" :/

We normally do do temporary numbers, whether your SIM needs manually activating or not I'm not sure - they don't normally, but as you say it could be waiting for your PAC code. Did they tell you when your number was due to transfer? If not I can get you the porting number, they'll be able to chase it up for you. Generally we when port people the other way they tend to use their Vodafone accounts until the port takes place, and your Orange number shouldn't shut down until you transfer.

I'm a bit confused about the memory card issue, as long a it's an M2 card it should work. They don't have to be official Sony M2 cards to work - I've got a ScanDisk one in my W900i. If you have no joy don't bother with the stores, phone up 191 and ask for 14-day returns, they'll be able to get a working memory card sent out. And if you have no joy with them drop me a PM, I'll see what I can sort. Oh and a tip, if you get a Welsh or Irish accent on the phone you're in the hands of our outsourced call centres, and they drive us up the wall to work with, so god knows what they'll be like as a customer. It's almost worth asking if you can get transferred through to Stoke or Newbury, both will sort your problems out there and then and are generally excellent. The technical team especially know their stuff, might be worth having a word with them first.

When I got the deal last June they had phoned me, and I planned to stay with them because of signal issues at college, but wanted the best deal I could get with them.

Im not a bird but im texting one. :p

Oh, well if they phoned you it probably wasn't O2 themselves, probably a third party dealer acting on their behalf. I'm guessing you've been had.

I hate those fucking companies. I'm quite careful with my number, so it really jars me when I get calls trying to get me to upgrade from third parties. I did have fun with one when I got annoyed though, made them plan a load of expensive contract options and phone for me and then hung up on them. Wave bye bye to your commision bitches.
