I decided I want to grow my hair long yet the trouble I have with long hair is:

a) it goes fluffy I don't gel it.
b) If I do gel it - I have a lot of trouble getting the gel out and I get dandraft :(

Is there any way to have long, yet tameable hair which is clean and dandraft free?

It probably isn't helping that I use gel. Is wax better for longer hair?

Basically, I want to get out of the shower, dry my hair, then be able to style it into a nice look, go out, come back and either wash it out then or later on - whilst also keeping it 'nice' to look at.

I want something along the lines of this (length wise)

if so, your probably have African root...
if not you have to cut your hair and 'layer' it

if i understand your meaning of fluffy:p

other than that, comb it lots, and wash it regularly

Use shampoo that straightens your hair out, I used to use Tré-semmé when I had long hair (Did the trick too) since my hair is usually quite wirey but 2 years treatment of that stuff straightened it out, use conditioner too. :p

Use straighteners too, be careful how you use them though and dont fry your hair, word of warning though, you'll get REALLY fed up with long hair after a while because it takes fucking ages to shower with it and fucking ages to dry it.

/edit, Yes Use wax if you want to style it somewhat.

EMO POSE HAIR BEWARE!

Mine got about 2 inches longer than that before I actually cut it, trust me, longer it gets the more of a fuck on it is to take care of it. :p

Fek conditioners, gel, wax, whatnot.

If you want manly long hair, let it grow and leave it the f*ck alone.

Weight of the hair will bring it down eventually.

Growing long hair always has that "i look like an ass" phase, before the "i look like an ass" permanent stage :)

get it cut. No offense but the majority of people with long hair are greasy goons, are spotty and dont look at you when you're talking to them.

I'd rather be a greasy long haired pimpleface then a tracksuit wearing soccer hooligan or a suit wearing, wifecheating bastard.

i could have lovely potato skin colored long hair, ive actually thought about growing them but it just feels so fucking bad, living with long hair, that i normally get it cut down to 1 cm every 2-3 weeks. so yeah, think of how much life will suck with long hair!

My hair are really long and there are a few things you gotta do to keep it smooth (at least that's what I do ^^):

- use a hair conditioner. I for myself use one from Schwarzkopf.

- use a regenerative shampoo first, cause lots of people have their hair in bad shape. I used Pantene Pro-V repair

- if it gets frizzy, do it like me and get the Pantene Pro-V for smooth hair (no, I don't work for Pantene)

- buy a hairbrush and use it =) Multiple uses a day helps from my experience =)

I will not post a photo of my sexeh hair ^^

I think the most annoying aspect is hair round you ears really irritating, so get the back and sides trimmed , and keep the length ontop.

Straighteners saves alot of styling time without having to use wax/gel etc which is bad for the hair.

Such stereotyping :(

Just use conditioner and straighteners and/or get some straightening gel shizzle that you put on just before you dry your hair.

I have to have my hair short(ish) as it goes ka-poof when it's long :(

Have tried endless straightening shampoos, intensive conditioners, anti-frizz serums etc, but it seems like the only thing that removes the bulk and the frizz is proper straightening.

It's now the longest it's been since I was 17 (got kicked out of my house, had all my hair chopped off and got my first tattoo all in the first week :D) and I can *almost* tie it back :)

Doesn't everyone have African roots? :p

I personally don't do much, wash it with regular shampoo twice a week or so and it keeps down :p

Had mine cut about a month ago, before that it was down to my waist - the weight of it means I don't usually have any problems getting it straight :)

Although, it was far too long really and was a bloody great big pain in the backside to do anything with. I usually keep it just below my shoulders by an inch or so.

Always use shampoo and conditioner, I've usually found matching brands work best and change your product every other month or so otherwise the hair becomes 'used' to the stuff you're using. I use Charles Worthington's range of stuff or Head and Shoulders if it starts to get unshiney (yes I know that's not really a word).

Also, with straighteners, try to get ceramic plates and make sure you use a spray to help stop the hair drying out. Also make sure you get the ends trimmed every six weeks or so otherwise it won't grow properly and will be all split endy and yuck.

Only ever tie it back with proper hairbands and never with rubberbands - yes I've had long hair a long time. Just some girlie advice anyways.

Men should have short back and sides or a skin head. Long hair is for women
