By the way anyone seen the advert where he is walking down the road in a weird way? Its the preview for his locked in the box thing "coming soon" etc.

Weird advert...saw an interview on gmtv with him too he was really rude, just sat there looking stoned giving 1 word answers.
Does he think it makes him look mysterious or something?
I used to like his old magic shows where the americans would be like OH MY GOD WHOA OH MAN!!!! etc but he's turned into a bit of a knob lately.

David makes a nice cup of tea in his hotel suite.
Meanwhile, accross London, dozens of people look on as his animatronic replica twitches uncontrolably in a vague attempt of recreating human distress, occassionally waving aimlessly at anything.

Further to what I was saying earlier, I get reminded of Penn and Teller, who I'd still consider to be "magicians". The first time I saw their act it had Teller (the little one) suspended upside down and swinging back and forth plucking bits of a ham and cheese sandwich left amongst various animal traps by Penn, the final trap being a massive bear trap, now that was hardly a "trick" but obviously contained some sort of secret that enabled him to do it all as well as a hell of a lot of skill.

Another "trick" was Teller trapped inside a revolving cement mixer with a ton of bricks flying around trying to find the initialled one, scary but if you know how cement mixers work you can get an idea of how it was done.

Penn and Teller have put a successful twist on magic, I think Blaine is doing the same, but he's a bit more showy and I think the hyping up is what gets on people's nerves but its all part of the act. Copperfield did the same thing by making a Jumbo Jet dissappear, then I think the Statue of Liberty, maybe next it's the entire City of New York, when all along the only thing people wish he'd make dissappear is himself.

Michael Rennie, professor of physiology at Dundee University, said there were documented cases of hunger strikers lasting more than 60 days.

"My main concern would be that it is extraordinarily boring, not just for him but for the rest of us. What could be more boring than watching somebody not eating?"

Funny, although I feel he has missed the the point slightly. He doesn't expect us to sit and watch this non stop. He just wants to prove that he can do it to. To himself and to others.

Sky have taken it too far with a live feed though. I'd rather watch big brother. At least there's a chance of sex on that show.

That's part of the act.

That's the way magicians have been THROUGHOUT THE AGES. It's not new, he's not new - it's just a different style of "notice me and my clever ways, bet you can't figure them out" instead of "hi, I'm camp!!!111".

I prefer Blaine to campfiend fuck heads like Copperfield and co. - It's just infinitely more interesting. Whether you like it or not, his "tricks" are certainly among the most original I've ever seen or heard of - something he should be commended for, not slagged off about.

I thought he was great when he just came out and did those shows where he roamed the streets, and levitated, they were freaking cool. But now he has gone all mainstream and does these ones that dont really shock, but just kind of bore you.

Just because he isn't original, doesn't mean he isn't irritating.

I've seen other magicians do the tricks which he does. When you see them happen right in front of you, they are very impressive. Much more so than on TV. The first time you see the levitating, it really blows you away.

This is what got me originally about it, C4 is hyping itup and so is the Lame one called David and yet you couldn't find any thing more boring to watch...unless he dies of course, which would make it slightly more interesting.
