Custom Titles

I propose BW finish with post count titles and instead allow users to make their own ones. This should alleviate some of the spam issues.

Agree with Soulie. This is the only forum where the custom title means something. Not just anyone gets one. Something to achieve, bla bla.

No to alleviate the spam problems mean I need to do more tweaking like (potential things so don't worry)

a) increase the time you have to wait before making posts
b) allow a quota of posts per hour
c) still more work on signatures
d) install a hack that requires a minimum amount of words to count as a post count
e) install a hack that only counts posts which are made in a certain forum (ie turn it off for the DAOC forums )
f) lots of other hacks I could go and get.

Custom titles are handed out by certain people when things happen and make them "special" to the recipients. If you want one give me a tenner and I will give you a custom title

I agree on mods having control over costum titles, I'd like one, but i'd like it even better if someone gave it to me because they think i've earned it.

You don't get custom titles through sheer weight of spam. Is that the misapprehension that spawned the recent wave of +1 posts? Plenty of people have massively higher postcounts than those with custom titles but are just poor, run-of-the-mill forum deities. I think basically custom titles are given out according to the whimsies of the wicked witch of the west and Maceo the cat, who controls Brinx's brain... in other words, SEND BRINX CATFOOD FOR A CUSTOM TITLE!
