Hmm im seriously considering the Crystal technologies GX2 but with an i7 processor, your talking almost a grand but it would be beast, dunno if i would need 2x 1gb Radeon 5770's tho lol, hmmz

beware, I did consider them before I purchased from PCspecialist. They supply real cheap and nasty PSU's as standard. Unless you pay extra anyway.

As offered, I'd be happy to build to order but by the time shipping costs accrue and the joys of warranties (self diagnosis) it's rather point-defeating :(

It's shocking just how few quality retail PC builders there are these days - I used to be able to reel off at least 20 reputable companies. Now I can barely manage 2 :(

Maybe it's worth trying any local small PC shops - firstly asking how much they'd charge to buy in the parts and do it fully, making them fully aware you know how much the parts cost, and secondly how much to do it with parts you supply. Their work would be guaranteed for a minimum 1 year but I'm not sure how that would fare with what happens when things go wrong.

I'm leaning towards Cougar Extreme. Reviews seem good, great selection and competitive pricing.

My cougar build is still going strong had a little problem when they put in the wrong gfx card but they shipped me a new card and just asked that I send back the old. So no down time etc.

Prices seemed reasonable too.

I go to nova tech for parts cause the reading store is only 12 miles away but they don't do custom builds and I'm too old to be bothered with fiddling around inside a case if I don't have to

I've always used OCUK and even get free shipping due to my foum account, but I build it my self. It really isn't hard to do it, plenty of video tuts these days online I imagine.

To play the latist COD / Battlefield / Bad Company etc at high res and full AA / Textures with vent and music running you certainly do.

Yep, I find not licking the components before installing them and switching on works well! :D

Just don't use Mesh tbh. Licking the components while they're switched on is probably better use of your time and money than that.

I don't notice any lag with Vent + Black Ops (and BC2, not at the same time though :D ) on full graphics, and it only cost about £260 I think it was, 1920 x 1080 resolution, though I rarely play with those graphics, as I go for max FPS possible on those kind of games.

Whats your setup, win7 or xp?

BF3 at high res and everything max, is gonna take a lot of juice :D even gonna build a desktop for that game. Just a little concerned about air cooling when the average temp is 30C+ day and night.
