You are standing in the living room of a once grand but now crumbling house in Boston, In your picket is the telegram which summoned you here.
HAVE NEED OF YOUR SERVICES. COMPENSATION WILL BE GENEROUS. THERE MAY BE DANGER. MEET ME AT 321 KENSICO KNOLLS. 12:00 NOON, TOMORROW. KEEP IT CONFIDENTIAL. Signed M. Feldspar

there is no furniture except for a large gilded mirror above the tiled fireplace. The place needs a coat of paint, and the yard is covered with last Autumn's leaves. The rain spattering against the window pane calls the chill inside the building to your attention. Despite the cold, no attempt has been made to make a fire in the fireplace.

Some of the others present you may know. Others you may have heard about. But since your arrival, there has been a long awkward silence. Just as you begin to suspect that it's all an elaborate practical joke, the door ont eh far side of the room opens to admit an elderly man in a tan suit. He smiles politely at you all, and ushers you into the next room saying "He will see you now. But i must ask you to remain on this side of the partition."

the next room is as barren as the one you left except for a cloth-covered partition that separates one corner of the room from the rest. When everyone is inside, the elderly man speaks to the partition: "They are all here."
"Good!" a strong, masculine voice booms forth. "You may go"
the door closes behind you
After a moment, the voice continues.
"I have brought you all together and i will be paying your bills. AND it suits me to remain anonymous!" there is an undeniable sense of authority and conviction in the voice.
"Approximately eight weeks ago" he continues "a Mr Dale Plunckett was found murdered outside Dunwich, Massachusetts . In all that time the police have found out exactly nothing. According to articles in the popular press, Mr Plunckett was an expert art appraiser and an art dealer of some repute. He was a resident of Paris, and i believe he had come to New York on business. How he came to be in Massachusetts and what he was doing here are questions that have never been answered to my satisfaction . I intend to find out the answers . This is where you come in. I want you to investigate the incident for me. I expect positive results in one week. I will pay each one of you $75 per day plus expenses, with an advance now and the rest later. But i whad better get results for my money!"
there is a pauses, and just as you feel the interview is over, he speaks again
"Feldspar will pay you your money, and he will also show you a little incentive on the way out. Remember, gentlemen, you have one week. Thats all. One week."
After another pause, the door behind you opens, and the elderly man, who you assume to be Feldspar, holds it open for you to exit

"Sir, I don't mean to sound impertinent, and while I respect your desire for anonymity, I would like to know your interest in this matter. Why are you so keen for us to discover what has so far eluded the police?"

Feldspar my good man, what can you tell us about Mr Plunkett? What business was he engaged in, where is he from, wife, children etc.

At the same time, i'll move towards the door, but angle towards to the wall to try and get a look behind the curtain.

Well, what are we waiting for? *hold out hand to feldspar* The money, the extra and a car if you have one. Long walk to Mass.

mr feldspar looks directly at the oddly shuffling poag, coughs politely and points out of the room with his arm "gentlemen..please, time is of the essence"
looking at toht in a slightlly imperious manner, he produces an envelope and hands its over "as per his instructions.."
and after a pause, he says "as to the other matter..." and unrolls an old painting
it is an old man dressed in very old fashioned clothing , oil painting, appears to be very ancient.

*fold envelope, put in pocket*

Don't know much about art myself. What of our transportation method? *wiggle my persuasion filled eyebrows*

<as he rolls it up you realise it is almost certainly a renaissance painting worth an immeasurable sum of money>

<The painting is the incentive?>

So all we know is a name and a city...so much to go on.

Let us search for transportation to Dunwich

So all we have to do is find out what he was doing there and how he got there then this customer is happy.

I guess we should inspect the painting a bit more for anything it has to do with the investigation, if nothing is found we sell it. Get some capital going before we start incase we need to make a purchase/bribe while we're in Dunwich.

Oh, we don't have it, nm :D

Cast a keen eye around the room to see if there's any clues as to the identity of our benefactor ... (using my special 'spot things' skill)

<btw do I have to mention when I want to use my skills? I'd of thought my spot hidden/listen skill would have noticed something like itcheh is trying to. Shame I didn't get to bargain either!>

<depends what it is, Spot is automatic for something you would expect, but if you want to search a room with it, say so :) if you are negotiating with a shopkeeper youre Bargain would be automatically used, etc>

<Default Drive skill is "getting from A to B". if youre an adult, you can drive, to a reasonable degree. you only need to check your skill if youre being chased down a steep hill in the rain and trying to turn corners, etc, just travelling is a given :) >
