These are the things that need changing. CTD should not

Kick you from RVR zone
Kick you from instance
Reset your PQ contribution
Remove you from a SC que
Kick you from a SC
Kick you from a CSR appeal conversation

Civy - you do know what 'CTD' stands for, yes? It's a crash. It's not a normal exit of the application. When crashes happen, bad stuff occurs, mmmmk?

I crash in that other game. When im in a bg i come back into that bg and my dmg/kills arnt removed. I dont get kicked from a instance.. I dont get kicked from a arena. Infact the only thing that happens is i have to log back in. As it should be.

The client doesn't keep track of what you were doing and the server clearly kicks you from all the "instances" you were in when you CTD.
Since they were able to bypass the queue problem with CTDs, they should be able to reconnect you to the "instances" where you were before the CTD happened.
It's a missing function and a big one also.

So what? The state of the player is on the server and can be resumed upon reconnect. Someone crashing from a scenario match should be able to log back into that match, it's perfectly legitimate to ask for such functionality.

I never got crash to desktop - I was far too busy having memory leaks that ended up BSoD'ing my PC. Only game to have ever done it - only other time I've ever got a BSoD on my PC was when I installed some crap CD writing software before checking if it was XP compatible back when XP was originally released.

Anyone else get this? Not that I care as I'm no longer playing. Just would be interesting to know if it was a common thing.

Yep, i had a BSoD for the first time on my pc.. Ofc playing WAR..

This game is just rubbish.. The DAoC engine, 6 years old still beats this bullshit.

Ok, I've got some more info on this now. The reason we haven't been able to fix the issue by rolling back our servers is that it's a client issue, not a server issue. Once a client is patched, we can naturally not un-patch it just like that. To address the issue, we've had to build a new patch, essentially un-doing the previous changes. This will be a 'silent' patch, in that no server down time is needed to deploy it. That means that online players will need to restart their client (shouldn't be a problem with CTD's every now and then hehe) and have the new patch applied.

Last word I got was that we're planning to have the patch online around 2pm. I've yet to have this confirmed though. We'll post news on war-europe.com when we do get a confirmation, but I'll also get back to you here.

To be fair it uses the same engine as DAoC, the idea i'm sure is that it should be reletively bug free by now. Most of the bugs seem to be caused by texture placement and the odd memory leak, probably due to extra functionality added to the engine.

We've just rolled out the patch, essentially rolling back the client. Any feedback on client stability would be highly appreciated. If so, please include previous CTD frequency - something along these lines would be great:

  • CTD frequency up until two days ago
  • CTD frequency the last couple of days
  • CTD frequency after this client rollback

Yeah you should be fine then.

After browsing about a few forums, it seems the fix worked as intended. There's still the odd player who's crashing still, but the major issue at hand is resolved for now. Naturally, precautions will be taken to prevent these things from happening again.

Well I get pass the login screen and patcher runs smoothly even checked all files
past the loading and images and gets to the screen where I have to tick the accept the EULA and it comes with the following message behind WAR

Critical Error

Authentication failed -- Application will now terminate.

So this patch has really fecked it up for me, will try an reinstall.

Running Vista 64bit.

That may be your FW blocking the new client. Does teh same to me every time i patch a new client.

I know it wouldn't anyway be the case for Hotfixes, but there are any plans for a future PrePatch Test server where we can logon to test things before they get applyed?

There will be test servers of some sort. Whereas they'll be exclusive to the US or if we'll have EU test servers as well isn't yet clear.
