Crazy crazy puzzle....

split the pile of coins in to two lots of six, wiegh. Pick the heavier side, split in to two threes, weigh, pick the heavier, split in to two and 1, then .. fuck. dunno.. ran out of allowed weighing things. What's the answer then? :|

Sorry this is so long and badly explained, but its a complicated puzzle.


1. weigh two piles of four. if they're equal skip to 5.

2. put three from the lighter side and one from the heavier side on one side of the scales. put the other one from the light side on the other side of the scales with three of the coins you didnt weigh in step 1.

3. if they weigh the same, the odd coin is one of the three heavy coins you didn't weigh in 2. if the side with three light ones on weighs more then the odd coin is either the heavy coin on that side or the light coin on the other. if the side with the three light coins on is lighter, one of those is the odd coin.

4. to find out which of the three in the heavy group or which of the three in the light group is the odd one, compare the weights of two of them. if the odd coin is the one heavy one or the one light one, compare one of them to any other coin.

5. compare two of the four coins, if they're different the odd coin is one of those two, if they're the same its one of the other two. compare one of the two with any other coin to see which is the odd one.
