Righto chaps, came home today and booted up my system for it to shut down shortly after, Abit's OC Guru telling me my cpu cooler (tuniq...think it's the "tower cooler") is not running. I've opened up the case and ensured it's all hooked up and tried again only for the same thing to happen, so i took the cooler off and left it hooked up an fired the pc again.

The fan goes at first...and after appox. the time it takes for windows to load up it stops....an then the comp shuts down. I have been playing with OC Guru a bit with the external clock speed and all seemed fine and has been for the past few days.

System spec is..
Q6600
4gb OCZ reaper ram
Abit IP35 Pro mobo
Asus 8800GT GPU

Any idea's as to what it is?
Any more system info needed just say an i'll let ya know what i do.

Cheers in advance you overly helpfull tech-heads :drink:

I get that now and then with my Asus as my similarly large Scythe Mugen's fan often drops below 1000rpm which is the cutoff for nearly all mainboards. Have a root around in the bios, there must be an option therein to disable fan warning. Might however be worth speaking to Abit as it would be dangerous to disable it (in case it happened for real) yet there are increasing numbers of 120mm fanned CPU coolers that spin slower than the threshold. They might already have a BIOS update that will solve it which isn't otherwise published.

Em, i think ya misunderstood me Kryt, the cpu cooler fan will run on boot....but then completely stops....0rpm...i've had the cooler off an watched the fan do it. i've been pratting around....ensuring everything is hooked up correctly....as far as sofware goes i cant seem to do anything as the comp wont give me enough time....i get about a minute at best before it shuts down and tbh i aint too comfy with roamin round bios cos i'm a clueless knob an i'll prob make it worse haha.

I think i've cracked it now lads, the comp gave me enough time to uninstall that "OC GURU" that abit do for their mobo's....fan is running and has been solidly for 15mins now with no system shut downs.

I did try going into safe mode nath, but when i go to the screen to select safe mode an all my keyboard would stop working...lights off and everything.

I shall give it a lil while an see what happens but i think it was purely down to that program as it manages fan speed an shit, either badly written program or became corrupted or something along the way.

Thanks for replies, will let ya know what happens, be it good or bad :) :drink:

Ah sorry about that, must have been reading it a bit too quickly/otherwise distracted as I often am these days ;)

Shame Abit won't be doing anything to help the issues with OC Guru such as updates/patches, but might be worth keeping an open eye for 3rd party "hacks" to it which may well sort the problem. Or you could just OC it manually and forgo that entirely, which is probably safer in the long run and won't interfere with your fan speed whilst at it :)

Safe mode with work with USB kit just fine, just make sure legacy USB is enabled in the bios beforehand.

Ah strange one - that on the same computer or several?
All dell kit is Logitech anyway - for instance my keyboard is Dell (logitech made) with the same controller running my logitech mx1000 laser mousey. Had no issues with it on this PC although they didnt work too well on an older one, so bought an MS keyboard and mouse for a tenner from Asda :D

Haha I had this on my old pc. I used the windows repair tool, then once I had to start clicking options I found the keyboard and mouse did not work. Could not work it out so after re-trying the repair tool and failing i just reloaded.

Nice to know for future reference
