Has anyone here had a Cortisone injection before ? In particular to treat "Tennis Elbow" ?

I've been told you need a local anesthetic before it, sounds bloody scary, especially if you are shit scared of needles like I am, anyone give some advice, like how long it takes to recover etc.

A guy I worked with had them every 6 months or so in a dodgy hip, he was an ex miner and put it down to all the hard work us southern soft shites don't do, anyway...

He would be in a lot more pain for a couple of days after, but then said it was great for a few months, looks like the usual sort of thing, lots of gain for a bit of pain.

*Warning! Jumping off topic for a sec*

Isn't cortisone the stuff Kryten's cousin took in Red Dwarf VII? Or was that Ultrazone?

Cotizone is just a steroid so it's anti-inflammatory and the local anaesthetic is given just as an aid to the anti-inflammatory action of the steroid, ie. to reduce the pain that's already there as a result of your tennis elbow or whatever.

The cortizone injection itself isn't anything to worry about, no more painful than a normal injection - infact probably less so because of the anaesthetic being administered at the same time :)

I wouldn't be too worried about injections. Xane is still a silly name. :)

That's probably hydrocortisone, and I don't think it's as strong as the injection would be, nor the same thing (strictly speaking).

Can ANYONE spell eczema? I don't think I can :<

I've had it in my shoulder twice following a small tear of my rotator cuff... it's like any other injection really. Bit sore the next day, but that's about it.
