As a family unit, we have cancelled Christmas, essentially.

My wife hasn't seen anyone but me since Monday and wont do until post xmas
Her mum and dad haven't seen anyone for weeks
I've upset my mum (that I live next door to and share a fucking garden with!) because we aren't going round on xmas eve, or at all.
I've upset my sister and nieces for the same.
I was in work for a couple of hours today but saw 2 people, at distance, with masks and that's that now until the new year.
Shopping being delivered tomorrow, that will see us through.

We are driving down on xmas day (100 miles each way) and going to have xmas dinner with the inlaws because my wife is desperate to see her dad, then driving back in the evening.

This Christmas cancel thing is for London and South East not everywhere. Everywhere else can only meet Christmas day

The plan all along should not have been tight restrictions since the spread is on the rise. Not great if you bought food for people who are now not coming. What a waste of time and effort and money for many people.

It is blatently obvious that humans especially in the west are so spoilt that having an essential christmas only was never going to work. It is a shame he has done it at the last minute as it means that people will have a surplus however I am sure if they call their local homeless shelter there would be some very grateful mouths who would welcome it.....

The change in tempo here was so clear this morning - when I was out at 9am this morning I saw one person on the way to my destination - you could see on public transport that there were only 2 or 3 people using it and at the post office which has been hell for 2 weeks I did not have to queue..... As I passed my local shopping centre it was so quiet that I went in and got some luxury food items that if croweded we would have done without and I went home - ill not be leaving the house again except to get fresh air until end of January and I am happy and relieved not to do so....

For those in tiers one, two and three, rules allowing up to three households to meet will now be limited to Christmas Day only.

If you can meet three families for the whole of Xmas day, you can meet three families for three days.

Yeh. I don't get that. If you're spending a few hours over Xmas dinner any infection would have spread. What's the difference stopping overnight too? The risk would only increase if you are in the habit of shagging your family.
