I was being sarcastic.
now they are idiots? after Sweden being your hero for the last 9 months.... I do not care what the rules are in Sweden - I am ensuring that everything we do is done a responsible way... so not going for big Christmas with my husbands family...

This Christmas cancel thing is for London and South East not everywhere. Everywhere else can only meet Christmas day

The plan all along should not have been tight restrictions since the spread is on the rise. Not great if you bought food for people who are now not coming. What a waste of time and effort and money for many people.
No it's 70% more transmissible.

As usual it's Boris making stupid ideas against medical advice and then backtracking.
Yeah i revisited the announcement and changed my post. Obviously after you hit the quote button ;)

London going into Tier 4 is no surprise. The moment they relaxed the rules and high street shops reopned tens of thousands flooded into places like Oxford Street every day to do their Xmas shopping and to drink in the West End. Zero common sense.

Stupid fucking people, everywhere.

They should prioritise the vaccine for people that actually bother with social distancing, let Darwin take care of the rest.

Yes, major increase in people not wearing masks in the shops.
That in itself doesnt bother me, its the fact that it means they are ignoring all the real transmission areas as well.

A whole new tier just so that they don't have to say lockdown

Pls explain what you mean. What are you referring to as the 'real transmission areas' ?

If we call all sit maskless in pubs and cafes for hours end, how exactly is a 2 min average shop visit going to be a problem.
The test trace app diesnt even register any contact under 15 mins.

Its people visiting friends and family, parties..talking for hours closeup; ignoring distancing with neighbours.
The masks arent working because were not wearing the stupid things where it matters.
Im in the Lakes now , sat in a coffee shop , you only wear the mask when you stand up....Im OK with it because its very rare up here atm.
Probably rife next week.

Ok, thanks for explaining... the shop thing is a problem too though as it may cause a build up unless well-ventilated.

It is silly since such action perfectly shows how willfully stupid people are, in essence you've got a whole bunch of people who may be asymptomatic now taking the new variant on a trip to other parts of the country.
The funniest part of that twitter thread was the women reporting it basically sayin look all these stupid ppl. Oh and i guess i am one of them. But continued on her journey.

A lot of it was already stockpiled, technically at the moment nothing stops stuff coming in but the drivers then can't get out which may well result in the UK government putting a ban on trucks from France.

We already know this Covid variant is in other countries already, I suspect it will be found or spread to other European countries soon enough.

It'll be interesting to see what they can find out about its source.

So I've got GMB on in the background and it's the standard Q&A bit with a doctor.

People never stop to infuriate me.

I just saw on the BBC a Devon woman who was driving yesterday to Dover to catch a ship to France, while listening to the updates about the port etc closing at midnight. So they made it there and were loaded on the boat at 22:00 but then an announcement was made that the ship wouldn't be leaving but they could stay in their cabins and leave in the morning, she can't return to her home in Devon as she rented it out so has had offers to stay with friends. I just laughed by adding in the fact that the renter is probably a escapee from London and she is now going to bring it back to her friends in another county :p

The conversation is a good source for solid science on covid.
I don't think you can call it "solid science" but it's an interesting generalised conversation about viruses involving experts in that field.

I wouldn't even attempt to draw any conclusions or predictions from that article @Job - that's what a pub conversation looks like when you have intelligent people involved.

Good article tho. But why the google link rather than straight to the page?

Got a colleague who's currently based in slovenia (his wife is from there) who's grandfather just died of covid (in wales) and he needs to come back to the UK to help his vulnerable father make funeral arrangements. His brother is based in the falklands too.

Borders shut. New varient. I'm due on a call at 10am where I'm supposed to be jumping up and down on him because he's running a programme that's cost and time overrun by $2m and much more and the business is going to start demanding heads.

Two of his indian resource have just gone off - one who's father's just been killed by covid, the other who's gone north to look after family whilst another family member is in intensive care.

Poor everyone at the moment. Life is shit. This vaccine rollout has a lot riding on it - and I'm going to lose my patience with anti-vaxxers because we need effective herd immunity (through vaccination - the only way we've ever achieved it) before this thing mutates in a way that makes it more lethal, rather than more rapidly spreadable.

Like I say, give the vaccine to people that have spent the last 9 months in near isolation. Fuck stupid people, let Darwinism deal with them. I am so sick and tired of fuckwits.

I am not sure how that would be achievable but meh...

It's his miserable attempt at hiding where the article has come from. So you need to click it first before dismissing it.
Yet another troll tactic.

Can't achieve herd immunity without the assistance of fuckwitts.

We literally have to change their minds.
