However in a country where there has been lower restrictions it is interesting to see the breakdown. This analysis does not agree with Jobs rhetoric....

who exactly are we defending against. Our defence forces are quite capable unless we get swatted by a super power.

Tbh I wouldn't mind if it went in cyber warfare which would also support cyber crime but yeah, seems a bit of a waste really, unless that money includes the robot army that an army too dog said would happen.

Inb4 everyone else follows suit

Lockdown 1, including the closure of schools (my wife did 1 day a week) cases drop significantly.
lockdown 2, schools open as usual, very little in the way of a reduction in cases and we are nearly at the proposed end of lockdown (it will be extended)

Anyone would think there was a link!?!

I would say extend the xmas holiday by a couple of weeks but, I think that particular horse has long since bolted and now it's kids are nowhere to be seen either.

The army is actually a bit fucked at the moment; all its kit was used up in Afghanistan, so I imagine this is where the extra spend is going, because they were getting the crumbs after the huge RAF (F-35) and Navy (QE Carriers) programmes.

I reported him for that racist drivel he posted above. What's annoying is that there is probably a legitimate conversation to be had there, but as always, it's framed from a mindset of xenophobia & racism.

They said on Newsnight that the 15bn will pretty much fill the current void, ultimately it won't in reality help future programmes.

Racist comment...jesus lord.

If I'd framed it .
Darwen and Nelson certainly do have a large and vibrant minority culture which has wound itself into the fabric of traditional working class northerners.
It some places even managing to dominate and with it elnlighting the lives of the native population.
It has ruffled a few feathers but we spoke to migrant support charity worker jordan eccles McPherson who told us its mostly racists.

A large percentage of the white population have decided to relocate to allow this outpost of multicultural nirvana grow and this will hopefully support their native cultural traditions and languages to be taught in the schools and dominate the local newspapers and entertainment.
The small housing stock is certainly a challenge but these ever resourceful minorities have brought over their skills and are easily fitting 30 people in a house, quite an amazing feat that puts us to shame.

Its not racism that you dont like, its just politeness and evasive language makes you feel better about yourself.

You just are that type, the type who puts virtue signalling as your default response so you dont get dislikes on a forum.

Can I just apply a galactic level facepalm to that.
He probably has a point but hes probably not the right type of person to say it so I'll ignore it.

You cherry picked so you could give minorities a kicking.

You choose an area that's 70% ethnic minority and blame that on their ethnicity - but ethnicity isn't causal.

You disregard white white merthyr tyfil and all the poor welsh valleys, the poor white areas of Liverpool, the poor white areas of Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham.

The article didn't attribute anything to race or ethnicity - YOU did that. Again.

Stop being a racist prick is the answer...

So in a multi cultural, multi faith country. What message does it send when we told other sectors of it that they can’t gather in groups for their faiths celebration days but we are going to make legal changes to accommodate Christmas.

not just that but it will then have a knock on effect of everyone having to be more restricted for another 4 weeks or more even if you didnt par take.

the virus doesnt take a xmas break. and christmas is no more worthy than dwahli or pass over.

suck it up and lets get this thing under control until they roll out vaccines.

or let everyone do what they want and deal with the problem. You cannot do what they are proposing for xmas without saying others in society have less worthy sky fairy celebrations.

Because Christmas is no longer a Christian event, hasn't been for years.

Disagreers beware. I'm no Christian but I'm happy to go to a Christmas Do and buy my kids presents.

And it kinda pre-dates Christianity anyway, albeit without the turkeys and Playstations.

Same, nobody I know gives a shit about the mystical sky fairy at Christmas.

Not that I'm overly keen about the commercialisation of it, it's more about seeing old friends and family and celebrating another year.

Although this year it is likely to be a bit of a wash out whatever happens.

I think before Christianity it was mainly sprouts and a big orgy.

You can still buy yr kids presents. Is having the in laws round worth 4 weeks of extra restrictions?

For those of you who can't figure out how to use Private Browsing - PHE have discovered (several months after everyone else) a significant immune response against COVID in people who have never had it - i.e if you've recovered from one of the Corona-based common colds in the past, chances are your immune system already recognises COVID and knows what to do with it.

Other studies have found a similar reaction in 20 - 50% of the population involved.

Fucking good news whichever way you cut it, means the Herd Immunity Threshold is a darn sight closer than we think.

Someone should probably tell SAGE - I'm reliably informed that if someone were to post this on Wikipedia, they'd probably find it.
