Why? Because I won't run around holding a pitchfork looking to stick the first Government official I see? You have your opinion of the Government though I suspect it was formed long before Covid-19 so I would assume all your comments are biased to find every opportunity to get the Government to fail.

I have always said work together to get through this issue and then analyse the actions of Government, medical and scientific advisors.

Branson doesn't even own Virgin Atlantic; Virgin still has 20% but the rest is owned by Delta (49%) and AF/KLM (30%), so I'd suggest he's barking up the wrong tree for aid.

Nothing less than the complete transformation of our consumptive economy into a far less consumptive model will suffice. And considering our model is based on consumption and the rich rely on it to remain rich, we're fucked.

Ever worked in Public Sector procurement? Have you seen the amount of Due Dilligence that goes into getting onto an approved suppliers list? PHE have to verify that these companies products do what they say on the tin, that they aren't going to run off with Government cash, or send them a load of dodgy equipment like our friends in China do.

Anyway, probably worth reading the below Twitter thread, from someone a bit closer to the business of buying PPE than any of the armchair critics on here:

Considering this chap works in procurement for a major Life Sciences company, I'll take his word over a few hacks from Fleet Street or IT bods off the internet, personally.

I've done lots of procurement thanks and you don't know that any of these companies weren't already approved any more than I know that they were. I was just pointing out something potentially interesting.

So fuckall then considering we are talking about hundreds of millions of pounds, hundreds of millions of items (which still have to pass regulations) and not to diminish the fact that distribution destinations went from below 10,000 to tens of thousand of distribution destinations (am trying to find the link but I am sure I read normally there are normally 3,600 but it jumped to over 63,000).

You cannot and never will solve that sort of jump overnight or in a matter of days or weeks without having the ability to force private sector companies to do your bidding. I do not know if the UK has such a law.

Well I could procure 100 network switches which cost 20 million quid. That is not hard.

I could also procure a single SAN with petabytes of SSD storage for 20 million quid. Again not hard.

He's filming them to show how they (the churchgoers) aren't abiding by the rules by not following the social distancing regulations. He wants to get their faces on camera to make public via social media / newspapers to draw attention to the authorities so they can fine the people there. The ones in the church are mad that he is filming them and are insulting back.

I couldn't quite work out what the woman was saying as he was shouting over but it sounded like she wanted to report him to the police. wtf?

With some of the local villagers and their accent it's a real struggle. I'm going to grade my Spanish as rudimentary, although UK visitors think I'm fluent. :)

Latest craziness reported in Danish press after reopening of kindergartens, miscommunication means the kindergartens are open again but the health authority has not allowed any of their toilet facilities to reopen, so kids apparently shitting in buckets with a hole in bottom wrapped in a plastic bag

Sometimes human bureaucracy combined with stupidity boggles the mind

As much as you want to blame the Tories it is a GLOBAL crisis when it comes to PPE. Noone can get the stuff. There are delays, material shortages and then faulty PPE.

I didn’t say anything like that. It was just in reply to your point about trusts being able to procure independently. This letter makes it clear that the supply chain was restructured centrally.
