Conservative Party in the doldrums

When New Labour got in with their massive majority I expected that they would have a clear majority for the next set of elections but I always thought by the election for their third term the rot would have set in.

Instead they are still miles ahead - now theres plenty of problems with the current Government that a clever opposition could exploit but the main problem is that the Conservatives seem to have lost their vision.

They only exist because its unthinkable to those who make up the party that they should cease but they no longer have any kind of shared vision - they have tried to compete in the centre with Labour but the much slicker New Labour PR team completely out-maneuvers them generally by just adopting their proposals...

Just mentioning Europe can cause them to schism into warring camps and nothing has been done since the troubles of the Major years to tackle the issue and come up with an official stance.

As I see it they have only two paths - move to the right a bit and define themselves as the tax cutting conservatives of old or fade away in the middle...

Or we can all vote Liberal (yeah right ;P)

Ive always said the Conservative Party are a bunch of monkeys...

I'd soon as eat my own arm off than vote for them and the Lib Dems are not any better either.

Voting Labour is the only option...

Why the hell would anyone vote Tory? Why the hell would anyone vote New Labour? :wanker:

What's the difference between the two, other than spin? :touch:

What are their values or goals? Don't look at me, I dunno.

I'm voting SNP, 'till independence...then some sort of socio-liberal thingy.

Maybe an Eastern Autocracy will send an army to liberate us from this Democratic hell.

I'll probably still vote Conservative in the hope that they'll get it together.

The americans were given the choice between a war monger and a corpse. UK elections won't be much better. With Labour you know what you're getting and that familiarity will put them ahead of conservative. I'm voting libs, purely for the comedy value.

given the current choices, in my opinion voting is pointless - abstaining is even more pointless. I dont know what to do - move to belgium or move to the buildings of parliment wearing 150 lbs of tnt. To be honest blowing the fuck out of all the top level polititians wouldnt be a abd thing, because then the civil service could jus tcarry on running the countrey - but without all the bullshit from the top, and we might actually get somewhere, or at least stop going backwards.

You can always abstain without being lumped in to the lazy bastard statistics by destroying your vote on purpose. This way, they know you bothered to turn up and you've registered your dislike for all the options.

No, but you can make the ballot void by scribbling all over it, or writing that exact sentence if you like.

well, the only people who see my ballot are brainless monkeys so writing on it is useless, but scribbling all over it is a good idea, I might just write "bunch of *****, the lot of ya" on it

One of the benefits of living in a civilised democracy, unlike "other" places on this shit heap of a planet. :)

UKIP the racist gerrymanderz it's OK to like. Less Policy that the libs more fascism than the tories!

I'll probably vote Green or someshit.

actually the UKIp remind me of The Republican Party actually, they won most of their votes for one ideal of 'moral and family values' wasn't it? Like UKIP win most of theirs because chumps don't think beyond "Stay the hell away from the Euro man!" Probably still some bitter feelings from the days when Euro LPBs aliased in every single Quake2 Clan going, and beat the shit into Grit-Brit Modemers.

Why is the SNP not branded racist then? Do they not have the same values?

Do the UKIP get called racist because.....well, they are English and thats what we all are?

Vote BNP! Overthrow the socialist dictators!

dont really have much choice:

Labour - a liar

Conservative - an incompetent muppet (also suspected of vampirism)

Lib Dems - an alcoholic who LOOKS incompetent (and looks count for alot in politics :p )
UKIP - Racists, and anti europe, even though if the UK left europe it would destroy the economy

BNP - dont even get me started, they arent just racist, they are neo-nazi in their views

then the sensible option is?

The Monster Raving Looney party

I'm voting Tory, although I'll have a good look at what the independant candidates have to offer. Labour want to run my life, well they can go and fuck themselves really.

The UKIP are a bunch of xenophobic ***** which pretty much puts them a par with most of UK politicians.

I'll be voting Lib Dem, after voting Labour all my life - don't see why people are baffled or mocking the Lib Dems really.

But like music, politics is a personal matter and all the above is my humble ol' opinion as Grandma Rottencrotch used to say.

/edit: Btw, its the circle turning - someone posted that people will vote for "what they know" rather than pick a new leader/govt.

This is what I had to grow up with during the Thatcher/Major years - ooo stick with what you know, vote tory! And look what happened in the end...Labour win by a landslide, but they "appeared" a credible alternative. Neither the UKIP or Tories do - they just look tired.

Funny thing is I would have voted for John Smith but I've never liked Tony Blair. :)

Always voted for Lib Dems because they're closer to what I want. They do seem to have one of two mental ideas but the rest of them are sound. As for kennedy being an alcoholic, I always had that down as a bad (running) joke.

John Smith was the best thing to happen to the labour party, didnt he have a heart attack or something, anyway, i dont trust tony blair to run the government, i dont trust anyone to do it, but you have to admit if you, like me, were at school when the tories were in power then you could never go there again, the labour government aint done that bad, its not normal labour party values to just blindly do what the americans say (the tories did it as well lots of times) if you take the iraq debarcle out of the equation then labour have my thumbs up, thats labour, not tony blair, coz there are 400 (iirc) labour mp's, its not just down to one bloke doing wtf he wants.
