Should be in off-topic really, but since noone looks there and its a question mainly to daoc players..

I was speaking to Artemis while he DCC'd me a file, I was downloading it at cap speed.. so we got talking about his connection.. hes got a 10mb line (up and down) for the equiv of £25 per month, he lives in Sweden..

Now I'm in England and here's the prices from my ISP (Blueyonder)

56k - £12.99 a month when ordered alone
512k - £29.99 a month when ordered alone
1mb - £39.99 a month when ordered alone
2mb - £54.99 a month when ordered alone

What's everyone else paying around Europe? I think England's paying rediculus amounts.. :(

It's the same in Holland.

Internet is just extremely cheap and well supported by the government in Sweden.

The goverment only supported the infrastructue, it is/was one of thier goals to have as many people as possible with a fast internet connection. I think i read someplace that about 60% of sweden got access to to broadband (atleast aDLS).

As for the question, i think i got the same ISP as Artemis so i pay about the same... ~£25 / month for 10 Mbit

Well, 30% of the German ones, so more or less the same comparing to Netherlands/Englands I think. :)

But anyway, I just wanted to point out that according the latest statistics the internet connection is the most expensive atm in Hungary (European Union research, they compared gasoline, food, phone etc)

Now I'm confused.

30% of the German ones means 1/3 of the price I pay. Hence about 12€. But then again you pay more than me for a slower connection and also say that Hungary is pretty expensive.

Do you mean 130% maybe?

I was speaking about salaries. So the price for the same connection is almost equal (bit difference), but you need to work more for the same in different countries. (for example you earn 30€ in an hour and it's enough for 1 month internet, in Hungary you need to work 3 hrs for the same money, so 3x pricey)

shared 2Mbit line between 30 (max) other users

£9.99 , can get download speeds of over 200 kbps, probably more if I use torrents.

But used to pay £24.99 for 512k ADSL (BT) when I lived at home

I wish I had a regular job at all. Atm I'm just freelancing. :( 30 bucks is damn much! Even in Germany. The average worker earns something like 15-20 an hour and 30% of that go poof on taxes.

sharing 1Gbit line (yes :p ) with 200-ish appartments.

having 5mbit for about 10£ / month.

Caple though, and sort of flakey at times.

Tradeoff, is close to non-existant CS.

This is in Denmark
