Connected to the US server it seem..

.. downloaded some before I hit cancel. Now I can only connect to the US server, I presume since I start downloading a 17 mb patch.

Any solution to this without reinstalling everything ? My files are corrupt now I guess.

Same thing just happened to me and I now have patch 1.61 on both PCs

I am not sure uninstalling and reinstalling is the answer, as it will doubtless just reconnect me to the US server again

Try to delete what's in your update.dat and add:

Mythic Patch
193.252.123.21:1280/updates/english/isles/mpatch.dat
193.252.123.21:1280/updates/english/isles/mpatch.dat

It should connect to the right server and download the right patch again and let you in.

You will have to use Notapad to open the .dat files. Notepad should be under start->programs->accessories. Just start up Notepad and click on file->open and browse to the update.dat file, it's in the same directory as the game, usually under program files.

Mine dowloaded the entire 17mb but can i find an update.dat dated todayanywhere on this Piece of Crap?

Will uninstalling everything work or not?

You just need to uninstall SI, and reinstall that. Then it downloaded the correct version for me.

I had it too, reinstalling is a waste of time. Open update.dat with notepad, delete everthing but mythic patch and replace it with the IP addresses of the European servers. The patch will reinstall and you can play again. :bazbeer:
If that fails, reinstall but I don't see why it should fail as it just checks for the current files and if they are the wrong ones it downloads a patch.

The Notepad dat file trick didnt work for me because no where could I find the correct file to delete.

I uninstalled and reinstalled just SI and it worked a treat... takes about ten minutes and when you get back on everything is just as you left it so don't worry about doing it.

Turns out quite a few people got booted and had the same problem happen at the same time last night.

And I can't say enough how wrong I think Goa are in their lack of customer support.

Other online games have real people you can talk to during the day AND the evenings .... and that includes ones you don't even have to pay a supbscription for!

At the very least they run official forums that are monitored by company techies who can deal with problems like this fast... not expect paying customers to wait days for any kind of answers.

I'm not impressed at all.....
