compared to EQ...

I have played EQ and still do on occasions . But the down time is like 1 hour to fully recharge mana unless you have a enchanter or your a necromancer ;)

Health takes forever if you solo to regenerate unless your a troll ( Karam) or a Iksar . Or you have a skeleton pet like a necromancer ;) to take the hits for you.

Still yes its huge and you spend 15 minuets waiting for a boat to arrive to take you to the islands.

Its a very nice game but the lack of pvp and the down times for me spoil it somewhat. Also the fact that you have to search for spell components after level 16 to be effective and these are very rare to find then you have to spend a small fortune to turn the components into spells that you can use. Played it for 2 years then moved to Camelot and still enjoying it here.
Everquest 2 now that sounds much better :)

rofl took me a while to figure that 1 out

I wouldn't mind. :)

Atm i wont buy expansion for sure! But i might hijack Subiz's account to try it out :p.

DAoC need imo more thrilling, more fun, mythic etc. (like a real roleplaying game). I need quests, unique-quests, items, unique-monsters, etc.

1 month behind with patches, u say? Make it 2 month :( .. when we were at 1.45, we were 4-5 month behind (?) :(

You are not going to buy the expansion because you want more thrills? Hm, so sticking with the normal game will give you more thrills? Hmkay.

if you can run from Hadriands wall - no make that snowdonia fortress just to be nice - to the southern most end of DM or lyonesse in 15min, please state charname, time, date and which cheat you used.

Show me how to get Dob's Fang in an hour and I'll have a whole new form of respect for you...

Damn , Dob's fang was the first thing I thought of but ya beat me to it :p

Place is small though , bet you could run from one end of hibernia to the other in 15 mins easily .

takes about 10 mins to recharge mana and no one that goes soloing does that anymore since the amount of high enchanters offering clarity3(mana regen) in places like bazaar are so many and chances are u will even run across a chanter that cast it as a AE and it lasts 2 hours.basically most folks that wanna go solo first come down to this zone(easy to get to) get the clarity 3 and off they go for 2 hours.
regen takes time well like any game some classes can't solo simple.there are basically 4 to 5 soloing classes in EQ.every game has classes that can't solo(infiltrator).wanna solo pick one of this classes.
lack of pvp yes true.i miss that part.but then again game design was never built on that to begin with.there are pvp servers but i feel the basics of the game is not that so pvp is unintresting.
spell component been hard to find?which ones?even the ones that the highest level casters may use on occasional big mobs are expensive but never hard to find.most spells u will ever use on a regular basis even at higher levels do not use components.
granted if u have not gone thru the first 30 levels everything looks a drawback.but heck first time i played EQ it was brand new and man there was no one to give u free anything.nowadays folks dump stuff to new comers that are way above their level for free.
like i said before folks in one game never seems to give a good picture of another.same goes for EQers to DAoC.and most of them have it wrong.
if i was gonna say whats wrong with EQ i say stuff like death.death in EQ is really annoying u come back naked if your group dies to get a rezz is so hard and if u died deep in some zone u have to fine 1 of 2 classes to summon your body.u can actually spent 2 hours getting your corpse back.

ok lets get this straight. for starters, a couple of horses would do it in probably less than 15 minutes. so thats sorted. and secondly, in EQ, there is a spell that can be cast on anyone to make them run ALOT faster, and im saying u couldnt get across half of eq in an hour WITH this run buff that makes u run about the same speed as a lvl 50 minstrel. thats how big eq is.

Karam you're forgetting that Albion is only 1/3 of the total world area and that you can access the other two realms' frontiers.

Would you still reach Lyonesse in under 15 mins if you started in Uppland ? I don't think so - 15 mins is the time needed to get to apk ...

Both games are good just that they have different backgrounds and styles of play. I like Camelot as it reminds me alot of Ultima Online and what it might of been if they continued on with the first person viewed one. The pvp in UO was fast and furious just as it is in DAoC.

But then EQ is built on the cencept more for adventure than pvp, so yes its going to be bigger with more dungeons, but then Camelot is still a relativly new game and EQ has been out now for 4 years. So it is going to be bigger with the 4 expansions and the new zones that are being added.

I have been reading on the US web sites that Camelot will be getting more dungeons in the frontiers for each realm ( not sure if they will be rvr like DF yet ). And with the new expansion coming we have no idea of how big this will be yet. The PvP server will increase the size of the game world as your character would then be able to move through all three realms. This would make it as big as the original EQ ( before new zones and expansions )

And Karam if everyone liked the same thing as you then the world would be a boring place, so shut up and go play EQ if thats what you like. Oh yeh and EQ necromancers are gods.

EQ has no PvP

Everquest is nice but there is NO PvP at all
even on " PvP" servers...

Everquest is an ok game, I've played it myself for about 2 years on the pvp-server 'Tallon Zek'. There is little room for the casual gamer in EverQuest however, atleast on the pvp-servers. If you want to be in any of the big guilds and do crazy stuff you need to be hardcore. I ain't never going back tho ;)

I didn't say that it would be much more thrilling, cause I haven't played it yet. You said that you won't buy expansion cause daoc _now_ isn't thrilling, what's the logic in that? Will playing daoc as it is now give you more thrills than buying the expansion? <shrug>

Cool, I was in Pahojen Kilta the scandinavian guild (Although we went international after a while :)).

I agree with you fully, pvp in daoc is a hell of a lot better than in eq :)

Everquest might of been a good game in its day, but I recently bought it, thinking, hmm, sounds interesting. But once my bro had installed it and downloaded patches etc, then told me not to bother, I tried it just for the hell of it....

Took like a few mins to put my spells in my book (this after I had stopped laughing at the spectrum graphics), and thought, what the hell, its more realistic having to memorise my spells.

Killed the guard in starting room, after my bro told me it could take me an hour to find my way to some mobs lol

It respawned me outside, and, my spells were gone... at this point I decided to throw the game, including the expansion, with (laughs) graphics update, out of the window!

Sorry, not my cup of tea, nicely wasted 30 odd quid :(

DAOC pvp is NOTHING like uo. UO's is about 5 billion times better, because fights dont last 5 seconds then u die. in UO its possible to survive massive ganks (if your good) from like 15 people and still get away alive. theres no chance u can in daoc. the reason uo is far better pvp-wise is because the skills (classes) in UO are far more balanced. a tank can take on a mage and visa versa. its not the character thats good, its the PLAYER. daoc has NO skill atall, all u do is hit 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or F6. in UO, if your any good, you'll have nearly every key on your keyboard macro'd with every spell/skill there is.

Maybe the reason Karam went back to EQ is because the PvP sucks in it and he can't compete here :p

Especially given EQ is free (without expansions) to download from Sony's website. Doh! :p
I tried it briefly, but tbh, I don't think it's the sort of game I'm after atm. Leaving aside the crap graphics and crap interface, the game concept is very different to DAoC. Some people prefer EQ others DAoC, they are different games...

free?? lol. Thanks for that, makes me feel a whole lot better :p

Bro wanted the game, with the shadows of luclin expansion for the gfx upgrade, but still.. money wasted, unfortunately, it's just too... "old" (cant think of fancy term)

lmfao, so noob. ok, for starters u have to get to about lvl 20+ for the game to even begin to become fun. before that is all shit (unless ur twinked, which is fun). u sound JUST like my friend who started, and quit at lvl 6 because he didnt like the way the game worked, he wasnt used to the interface, he didnt know his way round the landscape and he didnt know what to kill. i've heard eq only becomes REALLY fun at lvl 50+, as u receive better spells at 49 to kill far harder stuff enabling u to make miwwions of bucks.

and crap graphics!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!? did u have luclin installed!? with luclin the charecter models and most of the scenery absolutly cums all over daocs face.

Well, tbh, I don't really want to learn a new game atm. I have neither time nor energy for it. Nor do I really feel like xping for a year before my character becomes fun (assuming level 50 is where the fun starts as you claim). :p

The Truth....

...because it is.
Everquest is not a bad game, it's just not a great game, if only for one reason: you have to spend a lot of time on it to really enjoy it after your newbie days.
EQ the first MMORPG I played and hell did it rule!! It was so much fun just to walk through the world and see what you could find. However, after a while you can't really find anything meaningful to do and you have to lvl up to see something new without getting smacked (you really, really don't want to die!). The game is still fun, but onl;y if you're willing to put a vast amount of time in to it to get where you need to be.
DAoC on the other hand is much more fun for those of us who don't have enough time with our beloved PC :D No farming is required to keep yourself adiquatly (sp?) equipped, finding a group were your likely to meet a challenge more interessting to rise to, than the groups health/mana pool dropping to low, or the odd dangerous spawn, is much easier, and on the whole people seem more friendly in DAoC.
If you've got the time EQ is good fun, there's so much to explore, but if you don't you'll feel a little lost. If you like to log in and have a laugh for half an hour or so DAoC is probably more fun.
