comp not displaying pages

my dads comp wont display some pages, doesnt seem to a pattern to it really. tried IE and installed firefox, no cigar. windows firewall is off, AVG is upto date.

on the pages that wont load it shows the adress in the bottom left but no progress bar, it hangs around a bit then gives page not found.

any clues?

Is he wired to the modem? What ISP is he using?
See if he can ping/tracert the sites he's having problems with.

hes wired to my router and the same pages work fine for me. will try a tracert and ping later.

Oh you're in the same house? I was going to suggest ISP/DNS problems, but if it works fine for you... Is anyone downloading or anything while his problems are happening? Could just be that he's visiting sites with shitty servers.
