Hey guys,

I'm coming back to DAoC after a long break and I don't know much about Catacombs. I'm thinking what class my main will be but I'm having a few problems or, rather, I'm spoilt for choice. Speed is quite important for me bexcause I solo alot but tbh its not that important. This char will be used in RvR mostly because now you can level up almost completey on RvR, right?

--- Bezerker ---
Pros - Excellent Damage
Every decent groups needs a light tank
Two weapons
Hamster Mode!

Cons - Only studded armour
No special abilites (except hamster mode)
No speed

--- Savage ---
Pros - Excellent Damage
Every decent group needs a light tank
Can have two weapons with same specc but different damage type
Self buffs
Very fast attacks
Dam cool looking weapons

Cons - Only studded armour
I wouldn't have a clue when or where to use the abilities
No speed

--- Skald (two-handed) ---
Pros - Excellent Damage
Insta-mezz and all other abilities
Speed!
Chain armour
All groups need a skald
Very versatile in terms of race

Cons - Very slow hitter
Previous character was a skald perhaps not as much fun

--- Thane ---
Cons - Err it's a thane...

Just joking. Uber self buffs
Good long range damage (with AoE as well)
Good powerful insta's as well
Chain Armour
Shield!
Everybody loves thanes :eek6:

Pro's - Not so good in combat
Not many selective groups would want a thane

Ok so there are my choices, feel free to add any pro's or con's as you feel necessary (dam I hate spelling that word). I only want these classes because warriors - boring, valks - don't know much about them, seem to be a heal-type thane. And also I'm a very....hmm how to put this.....stupid big and dumb person....yeah I guess in a not-so-literal way so I always use melee classes.

Thanks in advance for any helps

Ripel,

BTW I'll be looking for some regular Thid players to get to know soon :D
Especially now since I've found out Exc. and Prywd. are merging ;)

EDIT : Just to say I DO NOT have a buffbot so the char will have to rely on itself =)

If you think all groups need a skald you are sorely mistaken now :(

I'll write a full reply tomorrow, too tired atm!

I'd say having a skald isn't essential but with SoS and SW love coming it could be useful.

That said, healers have instas so really albion are the only buggers that are blasted firmly in the face with SoS love since mincers take up a spot in a group that is alrdy needed to ensure albions utility is as high as mids/hibs.

Hah! I think not. I've read that they seem to be OP'd and can own everything. Doesn't really seem like much fun, does it?

Anyway, I can't play caster for shit

I even deleted my 2 lvl 50's on alb/prydwen to roll a skald on mid/prydwen cause I loved to play one on the PVP server, so my vote would go for the Skald...I just love the abbilities the class has, it's fun playing 1 and actually 1 of the few classes that doesn't get too boring to xp with (because of the styles/spells to play with).

btw, you can add to the cons of a Skald that it's weak defensively, they just get Parry and Evade I which both aren't that much use in RvR...Most people spec very low parry to get high BS and weaponskill also...
