Hmm, gotta say I think Mozilla are in big trouble.

Whilst Chrome itself doesn't have me over a barrel, extension sync is a big + as I absolutely hate the amount of time that it takes to sort out firefox extensions and having to read a stupid page I didn't want to see each time one updates.

Anyone else trying/tried it yet?

Using it now. I resisted Chrome for a long time (anti-Google instincts vie with my anti-Apple ones), but Firefox has been turning into an unstable joke for a while and I have to say apart from a couple of slightly odd usability issues I'm a fan.

I think one firefox biggest problem these days is "clutter". I love my firefox install as it's far better tweaked than chrome.

The downside is the extensions are allowed to run rampant over the UI. My menu's in firefox are full of stuff that I'm just not interested in, despite disabling everything that can be disabled. It's also slow, firefox used to feel "nippy" and now chrome has that edge.

I'm just worried that by releasing firefox sync so early, mozilla has given google the killer idea that they can use to kill off firefox :(

What I want is the grouped tabs from the next Firefox - that looks super dope. C'mon Mozilla, get it out there!

I love Chrome. It's my favourite browser and have been using it for ages!

What is it that you love though Dys? I use Chrome on my netbook as it doesn't have the oomph for firefox's plugins. I just can't find the attraction when it comes to Chrome.

I find it really fast and compact. I can also use "Chrome to Phone" as well as a QR-Code webpage generator to quickly access sites / downloads on my phone

I have firefox but for some reason it takes about 10 to 20 seconds before it is up and running...and I don't have any plugins! I even upgraded to Firefox 4 beta and that has made no difference.

I started using Chrome because of the Bookmark Sync. It has the Extensions i use AdBlock and FasterChrome. I just wish the pop up blocker worked properly.

You know you can use Chrome to Phone on firefox aswell right? It's called fox-to-phone.

One thing they still haven't fixed is the "find text on page" box disappearing each time you change the url. Annoying.

Yes but why do I want to wait 20 seconds for firefox to startup when chrome is up and running in under 1 sec?

And I use the QR code thingy more than the chrome to phone as its easier just to scan a barcode

Makes sense, you've got a killer feature. This is definitely where mozilla is shooting itself in the foot imho.

Wait, why is barcode scanning a url faster than chrome to phone? Am I missing something here?

On Firefox, I click on the button and 2 seconds later it's available on my phone. Or I right click on a link and click "fox-to-phone" and the same happens.

Oh and Dys, I wasn't suggesting you move back to firefox, just pointing out that chrome to phone is not a chrome only feature.

Because sometimes you have to sign in again and I find that step annoying...so I don't use it anymore and I can also save the url barcode or share it with someone else...

It makes more sense to me...

I use Chrome because it is FUCKING FAST. It opens fast. It browses fast. It does everything fast. It uses less screen space than other browsers (although their new versions will all be copying Chrome's window/tab layout). The omnibar destroys Mozilla's "awesome bar".

The only thing I use Firefox for is Firebug. And for when I'm showing something to someone and I don't want them to see that my 8 top visited sites are generally not work related. :)

I do think FF as stock is too slow these days, and some extensions do more damage than good. Often an extension will update and become shit. I have mine set up nicely and it works for me, I couldn't get into Chrome, however I'll give this one a go.

Moved off FF back to IE just for now, going to give the IE9 beta a whirl then if that doesn't look good perhaps I might eventually try C7.

I've been using the dev branch of Chrome for ages (v7), it's simply better than Firefox. FF used to be amazing because it was fast, now it's bloatware like the Mozilla Suite.

Chrome does everything quickly, it doesn't have any useless status bars or tool bars or menu bars. Everything is sync'd across all my computers and is just awesomes on a stick.

Went over to Chrome about a 5 months ago and haven't looked back, its the speed that gets me, its not that its little faster than firefox but is in another league. Had to use IE the other day on a mates machine and that is slow, don't understand why people still use it I installed Chrome on his machine and now loves how fast it is.

Still more than happy with Firefox here. I haven't installed shitloads of plugins, so it still loads pretty fast for me.

Plus last time I used Chrome it was filled with the ghey, so I'd rather not do that again.

It can take a little bit of getting used to, but in general it's just more responsive thanks in part to multiple processes. Firefox just feels like a generation behind.

Nah, I disagree. Firefox is just as nippy once it's loaded. It just doesn't like to run blindly out of the kennel.

I stopped reading at
The main innovation was that Windows 95 was a complete operating system and not merely a graphical user interface running on top of DOS, Microsoft's older (and non-graphical) OS.

Because 9x did run over the top of DOS. It just made it a bit more difficult to drop back into it.

I use Chromium mostly on Ubuntu and on my work XP laptop (don't use official Google Chrome on corparate builds because it installs to stupid place). Mostly use Chrome on Win7 at home with occasional IE8 or Firefox. If it wasn't for the odd rare incompatibility or Flash quirk I'd use Chrome/Chromium all the time.

Opera is even quicker but I can't stand the interface.
