I thought the same but the news is spreading across the net like wildfire now and I can't see this being faked by WWE for a story, not with the whole family being dead including a young child. I am sure the main news outlets will be picking the story up in the next hour or so.

Details remain very sketchy regarding the tragic news today that Chris Benoit and his family were found dead at their Atlanta area home.

Benoit had been scheduled to appear on a WWE house show on Saturday. Sources tell us Benoit called to first say he would be taking a later flight, and then to say he would not be attending the house show due to a family illness. According to one source, Benoit said both his wife and son were throwing up blood and he needed to stay to take care of them.

At last night's Vengeance pay-per-view, Benoit was replaced in his match by Johnny Nitro.

No other details are available at this time and police are on the scene at the Benoit residence investigating.

I don't often get effected by death, but even I'm actually at a loss for words. The rabid wolverine was a legend, and the man behind the image a good man and an inspiration to thousands and thousands of young people in america, not to mention around the world, to better themselves and strive for something greater. This man affected the lives of so many that it's truly sad this kind of thing would happen, but all must remember that while the body might die and the mind might fade, the soul and message of Chris Benoit will always be carried by those who remember them.

R.I.P. Chris Benoit, respects for the lost family and my condolences for all who are left behind to grieve.

Jeez, this gets worse by the hour. They are now investigating it as a double murder suicide with Chris as the main suspect.

Hmm if its murder-suicide, my sympathies to the wife and child, but this Chris Benoit should have been in therapy long before it happened. (Yeh I know its not always so simple but there are usually some kind of signs).

If there is foul play that has nothing to do with any of the three of them, then my sympathies to all. Their various families must be going through hell at the moment with media circus around them and my condolonces to them also.

That is fucked up. Me and Slim were just checking to see what was going on last night and this story came up.

What followed was one of the most surreal and saddening moments of my life.

He wasnt a legend really.. He had just found his level in ECW aswell. A mid carder with no charisma, or mic skills. Very good technical wrestler, but that alone gets you no where.

Hes wasnt in the same league as Edge, Cena, HHH or michaels.

Since I started wrestling ive always followed Benoit's style of wrestling, and ive always admired the man. It actually upsets me to hear that Benoit has died he was a true legend in the Wrestling entertainment buisness; seeing the man perform live was a great experience. R.I.P Chris, without a doubt one of the greatest technical wrestlers to ever live.

All the more of a shock given that he'd always been one of the more 'grounded'-seeming guys within the wrestling business, not one for drink'n'drugs...and it's harder to say R.I.P. given that he murdered his wife and a 7-year-old kid in the bargain. You obviously dont like ROH where Benoit would be a huge champion. In WWE Benoit did not have the stick skill. But in ROH or in Japan where its about wrestling not Sports Entertainment. He is a Legend.

Looks like its true he stragled his wife in what looks like an argument and then smothered his son. Prolly to keep him out of foster care who knows. Befor hanging himself.

tbh you cant judge peoples good opinions of a guy based on the belief that he was innocent... however in light of this news people will probably be revising their opinions of him.

always wierds me out when celebs go batshit like this i remember OJ Simpson being brilliant in Naked Gun then turned out he topped his missus, and when i was a kid i used to pmsl at michael barrymore, now he just sickens me.
