I think it's a cool idea.
Advancement on nuclear stuff *thumbs up*
There are hundreds of nuclear powered sea vessels floating around already. What's the difference between one that uses the power for their own propulsion and one that uses the power for external use?
This ones being designed by the russians? hello? chernobyl anyone? :touch:
You mean like the Kursk, right?
wikipedia said:The Kursk sailed out to sea to perform an exercise of firing dummy torpedoes at Pyotr Velikiy, a Kirov class battlecruiser. On August 12, 2000 at 11:28 local time (07:28 UTC), the torpedoes were fired, but an explosion occurred soon after on Kursk. The only credible report to-date is that this was due to the failure and explosion of one of Kursk's new/developmental torpedoes. The chemical explosion blasted with the force of 100-250 kg of TNT and registered 2.2 on the Richter scale
would rather the Russians did it than the Americans, they would be far to busy high fiving, shouting Woo yeah! and getting drunk on bud lite
During the 1972 Israeli raid on Sryian positions, an Israeli plane carrying one nuclear payload among its conventional missiles and canon was shot down by ground to surface Syrian missiles. The pilot of the Israeli plane was killed instantly. The plane blew apart but the nuclear bomb span away and fell into a field owned by a Syrian Druse farmer. Israeli intelligence searched for 18 years for the lost nuclear bomb, but were unable to detect it in the field as the soil was largely basalt-based and thus hid the radioactive signature of the decaying plutonium core.
The Druse farmer's son, a radical Muslim belonging to a terrorist organisation recovered the weapon in 1990.
Gunther Bock, a Nazi billionaire, and former member of Baader Meinhoff, funded the re-engineering of the weapon into a modern three-stage thermonuclear device. The weapon was placed into a cigarette vending machine and shipped to America where it was installed into the Denver football stadium which would host the Superbowl. Both the US President and his Chief of Staff would be at the game.
The bomb exploded and killed 300,000 civilians instantly.
America blamed the Soviets. The Soviets protested their innocence, but the US President, escaping the initial blast - barely - went to Defcon 1 and was seconds from launching a full-scale nuclear assault on the Soviets.
The catastrophe was stopped at the last second by the Deputy Director of Central Intelligence, Jack Ryan.
Now THATS a good nuclear story
(The Sum of All Fear, Tom Clancy)
It wasn't the nuclear facilities that sank the kursk...
That, coupled with the chernobyl fiasco - and thats what it was - leads me to believe that a nation who dont, or atleast didnt, have the know how/funding/etc to operate a nuclear reactor safely, and whom lack the same when it comes to seamanship, might make the idea of putting these two things together might be a bad idea.
Ukraine != Russia
Although I agree its hardly a good idea.
Awesome paint job on that thing, makes me want one!

ARRRRGH! MOTHERLAND!
Um, 3 mile Island anyone? it wasn't only the Russian's who had accidents with Nuclear reactors, and considering the amount that they still have active, not to mention all their nuclear subs etc (I mean 1 lost out of gods know how many is not far to judge them on), and anyway, nuclear is the only way to stop global warming, good one them I say.

If it was being done by someone who knew the difference between thier arse and thier elbow I might, might agree.
but...russia?![]()
The words "russia", "nuclear" and "Good idea" in the same sentence without atleat 30 "NOT"s seems inherently flawed to me!![]()
