Well, the new Alb Class sounds like, hmm, like another useless Class for Albion :p

Just a cross between a valewalker and a reaver and doesn't offer anything that albion needs really.

Sounds like a friar minus 10% absorb + flex weapons and a gimped Rejuv line.

Aye, another useless class for Albion \o/

Matt Firor: Yes. Our current plan is to have one "standard" class per Realm in Catacombs, and then Midgard and Hibernia get one extra "special" class. These classes will be limited to females only and are, incidentally, two of the most-requested classes back when we were first designing Camelot that we never implemented.
He fucking admits they are making 2 over powered classes to draw people to Mid/Hib. WTF should any Alb keep paying subs?

Actually, it seems to me that the only way Mythic can credibly add new classes to the game is to add a whole fourth new realm. Of course, this will never happen, and they will continue adding useless classes to the realms, filling already filled niches, or making older classes obsolete.

"that Albion's new class will be called the Zealot. The backstory for this class is that it starts out as a member of the Church of Albion (as an Acolyte), but at 5th level renounces the Church and becomes and adherent of Arawn, the lord of the underworld who was introduced in the Shrouded Isles expansion - and becomes in effect, an evil Cleric. Zealots will be able to use flexible weapons , but will be restricted to cloth armor as well as small shields. As evil Clerics, they fit into the fighter/mage/cleric hybrid category, with the use of combat styles and high-damage focus spells. It'll bring a unique combination of abilities to the game.
As for the other four classes, you all will have to wait a bit."

I wonder if they will give the other 2 realms a 3rd steath class?

VN jester quotes:

MATT YOU DEVELOPED AN OVERPOWERED CHARACTER AND IT HASN'T EVEN BEEN RELEASED!
YOU FOLKS AT MYTHIC ARE IDIOTS
NOW EXPLAIN WHY ANYONE WOULD WANT TO PLAY THE IMBALANCED REALMS?
MATT, ONCE AGAIN, YOU SIR ARE AN IDIOT!
"So even if you get to him befor he nukes you to death he can still beat you down in melee. Great!"

The question before is about why they are giving Albion 1 and Mid/Hib 2. The answer is Albion has a higher population so Mid and Hib are getting an additional "special" class. As in even "special" people can use them they are so over powered? :p

i thought the reason mid/hib are getting 2 and alb are getting 1 was because alb already has more classes

Its been stated mid and hib are getting an extra class to try and draw people from albion, since the population imbalances in NF are negatively affecting rvr. Albs should be happy about this as well since on many US servers mid and hib rvr participation is at an all-time low, meaning less action for albs as well.

Ideally the new mid and hib "special" classes should ofc not be overpowered, but i hope they are sufficently different and "cool" to make some albs wanna try them.

I doubt anyone will notice another over powered class in mid or hib, they already have so many to choose from  all the one-button wtfpwner's have already gone there that will.

On a more serious note, of cause the new classes are going to be over powered, theres nothing but more shitty pve in catacombs so to make the RvR's buy it they will of cause make stupidly over powered classes to make people want it.

SI gave us anamists, bonedancers and savages to contend with, and then necromancers for farming, and reavers would of been over powered if not for detirmination being as it is, catacombs is just the same shit with a different name, more pve zones and more over powered classes. I bet at least 3 of the 5 will be overpowered and that the new albion class wont be one of those 3.

For a guess one of the mid or hib clases will be the old shapechanger everyone wanted, probably something like the old diablo 2 druid if anyone remembers it. Im also guessing hib will get another offensive tank or specialist pet class like the necro, perhaps both.

Of cause with range being the thing in NF its quite possible they will take that route.

Either way I wont be playing by then, i've had one to many shitty expansions from mythic already.

Can I quote you on that? ;) I've heard similar words from you in the past, and you are still here, it seems.

Don't think I'll be still playing when Catacombs arrives.... nothing about DAoC itself, I just don't want to be playing MMORPGs anymore.

Actually when you stop and think about it instead of just hitting the insta-whine button, the Zealot is potentially everything albion needs in its groups to bring it on par in RvR; a healing support class that can deal ranged or melee (levi anyone?) damage. No doubt the cloth armour will be supplemented with absorbtion buffs in the same way as the valewalker is...

But then I suppose you were all bound to whine anyway. If mythic gave the realm something cool you would whine that it wasn't functional. If they put something functional into the game (as the zealot appears to be), everyone would piss themselves crying that it wasn't cool.

Stop for one fricken second and work out what it is albion is missing in its' group setups. This class sounds like a godsend.

Agreed, all these new classes when still there are bugs in the game with the old ones! Necro is still in a terrible state (ra's, healing, loads of stuff wrong with them if you read TL report). Armsman still has to double spec, cleric smite still sux.

Of course mythic will always favour new content ppl pay £ for, rather than fixing the game first. If instead of adding new zones and classes they had focussed on balance and rvr, this game would be 100 times better for me (things like BG, FZ are great to add skill in rvr but the way to get them is dreadful, the class restriction on them is nowhere near balanced...)

Read the warrior TL report from a while back, he had some really good idea's on changing melee styles so they were suited to rvr not pve yet still almost all styles are identical to the released version!

special doesnt necessarily mean overpowered, in some cases it means that the person in question has downs

smells like it, when u think about it, there is nothingelse they can add. but then again its not a secret mythic tried to kill off stealth from the game period.
