doesnt it say on the mail what info they want? otherwise, copy/paste the mail here so we can check...They probably want to know more info about your bank details.

are you sending to the address the card is registered at? at christmas they do this alot in highstreet shops, ask for confirmation of identity etc. because card theft is prevailent at that time of year. Dunno why they would ask you for details? Tried emailing them back?

I would be very wary of the email. Due to the amount of scams that there are around I doubt any company would send an email to someone asking you to email them back with details. Of course I don't what is in the email you got, if it says in it that you order Catacombs and we need more information then its probably genuine.

If I were you I would go onto play.com and go into your account details and check the progress of your order. Then find an email link on the play.com website and email them asking them if the email you received was from them.

And don't trust any links in an email either if you want to go check it out. Always go to your browser and type it in, not click on a link in the email.

What the fuck? You stupid or something? Djeez, I'm trying to help him out, if you dont have anything constructive to say, leave the topic alone instead of attacking people with false accusations.

Placedor, I have ordered from play.com before and when the order is above a certain amount they ask you to send them the Address where your credit card bills/account statements are being sent to. Thats just something they need to know before they can get the ammount you ordered for off your credit card.

But this mail is different, they ask you to fax/mail them on of your bank account statements, where they can verify the address on it. So just scan 1 of them and fax it or mail it to them.

I wouldn't trust that mail tbh, and I'd contact play.com directly to enquire about its validity. Looks like a scam attempt to me, and I definately wouldn't mail or fax them a copy of my cc statement under any circumtances.

I'd not immediately assume it's a spoof (it doesn't ask for credit card numbers directly though I guess a scan of a statement might well give them the info they need) but I'd not reply to it immediately :)

I would phone play.com up about it first given the fax address is not the one listed on the site...

01223 is a Cambridge number. IIRC, they have a payment processing office there and I remember someone on these boards bitching that they asked him to prove his identity when he made a large order. I think it's probably genuine (as the email address to contact is a @play.com address), but it won't hurt to check.
