I did think Dalton was hard done by - he was pretty god imo.

Don't let me saying Dalton was a pretty god give rise to another homo alert thanks...

Didn't Dalton lose out due to problems with the studios involved?

Dalton was shite. Connery was good. Lazenby sucked. Moore was a comedian. Brosnan was very good.Craig may be good, but I haven't seen it.

This is the Bond Law, according to Jup.:twak:

I think that law needs revising by the upper house of 'FH members who know stuff about Bond films' tbh.....

Brosnan and Moore were dogshit. Dalton was true to the books. Haven't seen OHMSS. Connery is the greatest living Scotsman. Nuff said.

Connery was the best bond. Cause he's the original.
Brosnan is next because he brought about just the right amount of grit and swathe for its generation

Lots of people dislike Mr Moore because he brought about the comedy in bond. However this is more of a reflection on the era he played him in, he was after all the longest running bond and possibly the smoothest.

Craig is what is needed for Casino Royale, a dark and gritty bond which character wise takes place before connery and therefore we need to see progression towards the connery style bond (if like me you believe in continuation). My verdict is out on him until the next film though.

The whole shaken not stirred gag (do I look like I care) you should note is before he is poisoned, which is what brought about the Shaken not stirred line, poison in bond land obviously being the sort that would layer when shaken but mix when stirred (this is explained in a bond film can't remember which)

Also wtf is with Felix Leiter being black, he is white in all the other films

and if we really want to pick holes in it we should note that M shouldn't have been played by Judy Dench for continuation.

I think A lot of the "flaws" picked up in Casino Royale can be ushered away if you count the bond films as a collection rather than a continuation.

Oh and who else thinks that the "organisation" behind Mr White should be spectre?

Just watched an excellent quality Thai DVD of it (70 baht - about a quid :)). Very good, but I don't think the 'back to basics' idea will last; they tried it with Dalton but people want the gadgets and quips and 'bigger, flashier, more' has always been the rule with successive Bond movies as the scriptwriters try to top previous episodes. Mark my words, the Batman franchise will head the same way as well.

As for who's the 'best' Bond...I can't believe some people think it was Roger Moore; who's clearly the Austin Powers template. Of course there are some Moore films that are amongst the best Bonds; The Spy Who Loved Me is easily one of the best, but then you've got the dogshit that was Moonraker straight after and dreck like Octopussy. The first Dalton one was actually pretty decent, and all the Brosnan ones were good, right up until the last one, which started and finished well but let itself down with the ludicrous invisible car and some of the worst CGI ever put down on celluloid in that godawful 'surfing' scene.

Classic. I remember sitting in the cinema in shock at this scene. I was actually lost for words.

God only knows what the writers were thinking.

Dalton Bond wasn't exactly back to basics. I remember him driving an Aston Martin armed with rockets and skis.

Absolutley fucking brilliant. Best Bond film I've ever seen. Daniel Craig made Pierce Brosnan look like a giant whoopsey.

Can't wait for the next un.
