CASE 39
Director: Christian Alvart
Starring: Ian McShane, Bradley Cooper, Renee Zellweger, Jodelle Ferland

A severely traumatised young girl is the key to a nerve-shredding horror experience.

Emily Jenkins (Renée Zellweger) is a hard-working family services social worker juggling a huge backlog of heart-breaking cases. When Case 39 lands on her desk, Emily is shocked to discover that the parents of a troubled ten-year-old girl called Lilith (Jodelle Ferland) seem to be trying to kill her. Arriving just in the nick of time, Emily rescues Lilith from her home and takes her in. With her dangerously unstable parents safely behind bars, Lilith begins to show signs of recovery under Emily's care. But then very bad things start to happen. Emily's boyfriend (Bradley Cooper) is found brutally murdered in his apartment and a terrifying, ghoulish assailant starts tormenting the girls in the middle of the night. With their lives in increasing danger, it becomes clear that Case 39 is far more horrifying than Emily ever imagined.

The 11% rating on Metacritic sure does make me want to go see it.

Lets take a wild guess here: creepy kid doing the killing, real parents are innocent. Kid might be mental and/or posessed or some such.

An hour an a half later the protagonist works it out while the audience beats their head off the chair in front because the main character has taken so long to get there.

I'm comfortable with being completely wrong since if I am then it might be an enjoyable film. Otherwise, I'll be staying away from it.

It will just be Renee Zellweger doing her whole scrunch-face routine for 2 hours.

Ian Mcshane is a god amongst actors though, so the film may have some small hope.
