Well thats silly, you get fully comp when you own a car worth fully comping. My first car was a 1.1 fiesta same year I was born, value about £100 fully comp would have been about £700+, excess at the time was £50 so if I hit a wall I'd get £50 back so a loss of -£650, 3rd party was about £400 hit a wall -£500.
I now own an M reg peugeot 306 1.9 XDTR value about £4000 insurance currently £300 fully comp but lets say it was £1000 for example, hit a wall excess is now £150 so I'd get £2850 all in all, 3rd party I'd get bugger all and be over £4000+ worse off.

Hope that makes sense because thats the best I can do.

Directline and Norwich Union Direct have given the best quotes to me so far.

I also hear Liverpool Victoria are good, particularly when it comes to mods.

I'm 22, have 1 years NCB and pay £766 fully comp for a relatively nippy hot hatch.

It hinges majorly on where you live. My sister said that when she moved from home to Coatbridge, her premium rocketed just purely on location.

It's all a massive rip off.

Esure only cover "careful" drivers - thats you lot out for a start :p

2.0 Injection Mitsubishi only £210 for me :D

1.4 Saxo £180 including additional named drivers.

Try Kwik-Fit insurance too - they used to be "less expensive"

My dad put me on his company's insurance to save all this crap. I'm insured to drive any car thats licensed to the business (about 15 cars atm) and for the grand fee of £60 pa. Considering i'm 22 and haven't passed my test yet it's not too bad. For tesco/direct line/AA to insure me it would've cost at least £750.

But you won't be accumulating any no claims bonus, which is a pisser.

True i won't get any no claims bonus, but i don't see that as a prob. Atm i get to drive class cars that i couldn't afford insurance for on my own. I'm not planning on changing insurance anytime in next 10 years so i'm not gonna let no claims worry me.

Go for the "own insurance" method.

I started driving at age 17, in a Morris Minor.
A genius car, as it's a classic car (or historic vehicle, as it's called now) you don't pay any road tax at all, and the insurance with these specialist insurers is dead cheap.
Morris Minor, convertible. Value of £5k. Insurance £350pa.

Class.

Then after 5 years no claims, my insurance is £300 a year in a Ford Mondeo! In london.

It's the trutth the way and the light.
+you look classy in a older car, and it gets the attractive and classy birds, not the scallys that your golf gti with blacked out windows will get.
Hence less STDs.

See? Worth its weight in gold.

Pimping lessons from Mr. Monkey. Almost as ironic as first aid lessons from Harold Shipman.
