But last night while sitting at my pc the picture seemed to get a tad darker. I was quite pissed to be honest so ignored it :)

However this morning I get up and its still the same, the black on the letters is a bit blacker than normal, and it seems just a bit blurry.

Its a Viewsonic Vx922 monitor and a newish 8800GTS video card.

Any suggests, or has anyone experienced such a thing? Im fairly sure its not the hangover, but you never know ...

I always thought it was rather a good monitor :(

I do suspect the monitor is playing up though.

Viewsonic aren't exactly top of the pile - not entirely bad though either.
It was VS that brought out the first retail 4ms panels that ghosted worse than 20ms units if you did something as demanding as play a slow video on it, and I think I lost respect for them ever since. It's Viewsonic you can thank for the Apple-Esque stretching/breaking description laws and guidelines to con people into thinking their kit was any good.

Hmm I always thought this one was rather good, I know other people who have them too and seem satisfied.

However I have been looking at wide screen ones (some of them are so cheap!) but Im potless at the moment so it will have to wait !

Yeah, as I said, they're not bad (the recent ones)
My point wasn't too well put across - it's just the reason why I personally avoid them like the plague, I tend to hold a grudge for a long time :)

I'm still on an aging Samsung 913n square thing and really rather happy with it, it was about at the same time as those supposed 4ms ViewSonics, and lots of people were happy with this one. Most the folks back then who had bought a VS had faults with it or just sent them back as they were unusable in games.

If I had a choice (i.e. money and a gap larger than 20" diameter in my desk) then the 24" Dell would be my first choice, with Benq's offerings coming up a close second. Apparently the Acer's are rather nice but again, they're a company I don't trust.

Hi throdgrain

A couple of simple things to check are Cleartype (if the problem only affects text) and your display resolution (if the problem affects everything). Altering either of these things may result in a slightly blurry image, although it shouldn't suddenly happenout you doing anything.

If you've checked all the simple things, maybe it's worth seeing if your monitor is still under warranty.

Kind regards
