Wahey bloke!
And no offence taken. In a way I agree. Even having a voluntary donation process smacks of commercialism a little too closely for me. However, the last few years have grown me a couple of reality neurons and, whilst we ideally should be able to run this place without contributions or it wont work, sometimes you just have to have a buffer zone. Theres so much you have to pay for, software licenses (yes, really, stop laughing dammit everyone), hardware, bandwidth (maybe ;) ) that perhaps a slush fund to have to hand is a wise move.

In theory everything here will "just work itself out". If we get round to running game servers then thats a new ball park.

Nice to see you around CCC.

Aye - would be nice to get the threads from the last month maybe - there's no point mirroring it all though surely?

Same applies to the Tech forum, we've dished out some prett useful advice over the years, would be nice to have that restored for future generations... ;)

Your joking? :)

We would lose the posts of the past, from the Nova bashing to the threads such as September 11th that show what was happening at that time...

I guess its just me feeling a bit gutted that all those posts (good and bad) will be gone never to return. I guess that why I have 100mb of IRC logs :)

TTD! \o/

yeah ive risen from the grave again! well i think you wont have a real community until you have your first FH Pizza Night(tm), so make sure its in Beckenham so I can come along :D

I am actually very interested to see where this goes. since the end of the BW experiment there hasnt been anywhere that I have felt is a real place for a gamer to contribute to in the UK (personal view ppl, dont flame me to death about your own community).

game servers.... ewww :) be careful, they scare the bean counters!

i would much rather see an ad-hoc appeal for single purchases rather than a fund, if it ever came to that.

I have one to VB that I never use, I had intended to have a good fiddle on VB3 using my BW space but I guess that won't happen...lol :)

Bandwidth does cost us money, we will be paying for this site and more.

We want to offer email as well. This doesn't come free to us at all.

As for custom titles, goto your user CP and it is under Edit Options I think.

Would have been less hassle if DBs had mentioned it when I was in London, so I could just have handed him a tenner. ;)

indeed, though I did get to slag him off which kinda made up for it ;)

I think the option to donate some cash is great.

It's a community site, and what better way than to help your community, and share in it, than to donate to it's upkeep?

If you give money you get custom title. It should be automatic (it worked when we tested it but now it doesn't, poxy thing).

PM me your forum username and REAL name and I will add you to the relevant group. Same goes for everyone else who has paid a subscription....

I'd just like to point out, especially (but not critically) to DMW :) that I only wanted to donate because I've had so much enjoyment from these forums over the past few years. Custom titles are just a bonus.
