Have a look at that thread about "what do you want changed in DAOC" .. you'll see that pretty much every desire a player writes down gets 100% contradicted in another players wishlist ... lesson to be learnt? You can never please everybody... and no other mmo will ... ever ... nothing ever will ... and expecting that there is ever going to be a situation where you find a game that is 100% perfect for you ... is just as unlikely.

I will personally deliver a plat ingame to the person who can find a link to a pressrelease/interview/article where Mythic says that TOA wouldn't affect rvr.

Imo they said it wasn't an RvR expansion which was true .. it's a pve expansion (ok ok except for ml10 if you want to be precise) that had a huge impact on all facets of the game .. PvE and RvR. But I can't find any proof they ever said it wasn't going to "affect" RvR.

Feel free to proof me wrong I'm just saying I can't find it.

they never did say it.

They did say "it will have more effect on larger scale RvR than on 1vs1s" (which you could argue about... FoP in sieges vs FZ soloing )
and they even said "some of these master level abilities will only be for RvR" or words to that effect.

hmm.. not one single thread saying what a good game WoW is. so it just goes to show, nothing is perfect. even WOW cant get a positive forum thread. when people get bored of it (2-3 months tops for even the stubbornest player) camelot gets its population back.

So many people have left US WoW that Blizzard have had to add another 6 servers (1 PvE, 3PvP, 2RP) ..... and posts stating 'they'll be back after a month are a thing of the past'

Probably be another 2-3 weeks before the full Euro impact is known (giggest US drop was 1 month after launch). Maybe this wow t'is but a flesh wound

Good news on the US DAoC front though is that the player numbers are more or less stable - slight decline still maybe. Next hurdle : Guild Wars.

erm, like i said. there were NO POSITVE THREADS go take a look if you dont beleive me. those were just some of the threads that caught my eye. and you missed my point completely, i was saying that WoW was just like DAOC in that all forum threads were whines, just showing that things are the same anywhere. try reading what i say next time dont just jump to a conclusion

thats exactly my point, last i heard people were praising WoWs balence, lack of bugs, customer support, now i just find it ironic that its no better than DAOCs is/was. if theyre two games with the same problems, id rather play daoc and have fun rvr

It's way too early to tell if WoW or GW or any other game will be the start of a slow death for DAOC. ONe thing is certain however, I will not return to DAOC. Main reasons:

1) It would take too long, too much repetitve grind to get back into it - and then there's TOA on top - basically levelling all over again x 2 - soemthing I've alreayd done twice.

2) I hate the way Mythic screwed over its loyal PvP customers by forcing us to PvE all over again.

Good luck to those who enjoy DAOC still - I hope it keeps you happy - it certainly didn't for me.

Forums representing at best 5% of the playerbase (and probably much less) are not representative of the state of the game as a whole. Polling forums is a very poor way to gauge the popularity and features of a game. If you took a quick look at VN for instance you'd conclude DAoC was on the brink of exstinction, with the only people remaining running 2 buffbots each and radaring to every fight.
The only real way to know if WoW is better than DAoC is to play both and make your own mind up. Personally I think WoW is far better than DAoC with few of the problems that DAoC has. But then I don't read the WoW EU forums either.

theres a difference between "FFS IVE JUST BEEN CHAINED 7 TIMES IN A ROW" heat of the moment anger whine and "OMG IM SO BORED OF THIS GAME IT SUCKS" whine. RVR as a solo paladin admittedly leaves a lot to be desired, but soon as you get a group, get out there and start getting into good scraps, the game lights up again. has for me anyway. theres not a game out there that can match DAOCs PVP system, and as PvE interests me about as much as shoving my face in a blender, im sticking with camelot.

I think Mythic would be ecstatic if they had the same 'problems' as Blizzard. They don't.

When any game starts it can feel 'empty' - DAoC did - guilds form, characters level and high level quests against against elite mobs and PvP begin to kick in. US WoW has matured and improved.

Dont get me wrong, for over 2 years Ive loved my time on DAOC and even though I play WoW now, my daoc account is still active and prolly will be at least until I get to try out Catacombs. But hoping that everyone will get bored of WoW and come back to daoc, Im sorry guys but that isnt going to happen Im afraid. The only people that get bored of WoW are those that think that having a lvl60 char in 2-3 days is what they just have to do, XP grind all the way through, dont even bother with any of the nice quests, dont get the chance to see even 1/10th of the world and are also too impatient to wait for the Battlegrounds to come out, so they return to DAOC only for the RvR.

I think its excellent i have 2 nice games now to get bored of, one at a time ^^ When i get bored of WoW (and i will, sooner or later) i can go back to DAoC, and when i get bored of daoc again i can play WoW Its a good time to be a mmorpg'er.

I'm far from a grinder, only got to level 23 so far in WoW but i'm already bored with it. It's just a bloody single player game with a chat function and random people who just stall your progress. Even though daoc's exping was a huge grind it encouraged grouping, something that wow is really lacking imo. Too bad daoc has toa so i won't go back to it, even though catacombs looks nice. Can't stand the idea of having to do that horrible artifact/ML stuff again.

and you play wow.. tbh thinks like Instances are just like ML's you have to go though a place todo quests, although you might need a few less ppl.. depending on teh instance ofc.. the higher level ones needing more ppl ... I dont see what the fuss is all about sure some of the ML's are hard.. but with a good bunch of ppl they are fun

Artifacts are just like purple soulbound rare as fook only from of ver high level mobs.. and need lots of ppl todo.. tbh i rest my case :E

I kind of quit wow already. Problem is I simply do not have the will to do hour upon hours of pve again. I didn't enjoy toa the first time so chances are small i will enjoy it a second time.

fair point.. I was getting board of DAoC but then I played wow for 2 weeks ish.. and now im back enjoying DaoC more than ever I just miss all my guildies.. which is why I will still play WoW as well.. same wow is broken atm.. wont run on my PC :E
