My 2p on the Subject.
TFC is a class based game where the game balance is derived from the in-built Character Weapons + Abilities. Class speed is clearly one of the key differntiating Abilities by class, as it's used to balance the hwguys massive kill-power against the scout's piddly kill-power.
On top of these classes with their inherent weapons / abilities, we add whatever skill we have acquired through playing the game. Key word here is ADD. Getting better at aiming / evasive tactics /dm'ing are skills. Bhopping however doesn't add, it CHANGES the core Ability balance between the classes by allowing even slow classes to move aroud the map much faster, killing the whole class balance effect in one fell swoop. That's why I think it's wrong, because it very clearly unbalances the game totally. That's why in Clan matches no-one I've ever played for or against uses it (don't play bwtfcl adn if it's prevalanet here, I simply won't bother). I too have been chased and caught up on a pubby server while concing out of the enemy base with teh falg by a bhopping hwguy. It's not funny. What it means is that person hasn't had to try and think within the skills of his class at how best to deploy himself to best defensive impact, because with bhopping he can catch anyone.
Technically it's a bug expoloit, rather than a script cheat. That valve have said it's against the spirit of the class based game they created + that they will tune it down in a patch ASAP (can't switch it off unless they re-write major parts of engine physics which they'd be mad to do for a game with no future revenue income for them !) should be enough for it to be banned for match use imho.
My 1/2p to Kez
I think you should be lauded for reminding us how to notice when someone has ended discussing something and is just picking a fight. That you repeatedly post personally-aimed offensive messages in a forum for a game that you don't play shows real diligence in winding people up. You're doing a good job. I'm not suggesting you go off to post anywhere else, but that everyone here takes your posts at face value for what they are and replies only to the valid points you make relevant to the Thread.
No replies.
Ever.
