Because the State is determined to take over the daily running of your life down to the smallest detail. Parents can't discipline children, adults aren't allowed to defend themselves or their property, and going to the defence of someone else will probably end up with YOU in the dock. I bailed already. Not that my destination is problem free, but I've not seen any anti social behavior in my almost 2 years over here. Crime is done mostly by criminals, rather than yobs. And I feel safe when walking the streets, something I've never done in England unless I was with a fair sized group.

Come on, to be fair there are places in the States where you'd be pretty crazy to walk by yourself and there are places in England where you'd no doubt feel totally safe in doing so.

Of course there is unsafe areas. I'm generally referring to walking about in the evenings in metropolitan areas. The difference between assaults / robberies here and in England seemed to be simple: There's very little senseless violence.
If you get robbed, just hand your shit over and they'll let you go. In England, they'll beat you up for fun. And I lived in the south!

There's other reasons I left ofc, also mentioned in this thread... politicians, nanny state, retardedly high taxes compared to what we get in return.

I left for totally different reasons - post 7/7 discomfort as a Muslim - and i have been back a few times and i have to say it has been the best thing have ever done.

I dont have to worry about getting robbed - attacked walking home at night, i i earn better money then i ever earned in the UK - Tax free i might add.

I would consider having a holiday home in England somewhere - E Sussex - but to live in England again? I hate to say Never Ever but i just cant see it.

The "law" on self-defence and the ability of the police to give themselves wide-ranging powers based on regulation and ridiculous catch-all laws are two entirely different things. Why do people with "different sexuality" need different treatment? I can't think of any matter where one's sexuality should have a bearing on how you're treated by the State. Quite the reverse, the State should be blind to your sexuality. With ethnicity there may be practical issues such as language, I can't think of any with sexuality.

Genuine question. How so? What difference does it make to anything if you are gay, straight or a bit of both, you are still human and just the same as any other group.

Unless there's been a massive rise in the gay male population that will make fuck all statistical difference (the carpet munchers will get the turkey basters out anyway), and even if it was in the census it still wouldn't gave data you could use for that kind of prediction anyway because trends in the general population (singletons, dinkys) would mask any "gay" effects anyway.
