boyars

The Dacians had attained a considerable degree of civilization when they first became known to the Romans. They believed in the immortality of the soul, and regarded death as merely a change of country. Their chief priest held a prominent position as the representative of the supreme deity, Zamolxis, upon earth; he was the king’s chief adviser. They were divided into two classes - an aristocracy and a proletariate. The first alone had the right to cover their heads and wore a felt hat (hence tarabostesei = pileati); they formed a privileged class, and it is supposed they were the predecessors of the Romanian boyars.

Some1 please tell me what 'boyars' are, it's kinda important, can't find it in my dictionary.

Since i was talking with someone at Oxford English Dictionary, i have found that that they are currently reviewing the Letter M. Each letter can take in excess of a year to review fully. So last time B was done, was probably 1990. Most of the words we use today, within the computer world dont exist yet. So maybe you will find out in 15-20 years time ;)

Taken from the 'Geddes & Grosset English Dictionary':

Boyar n (formerly) a Russian landed proprietor of an old aristocratic order abolished by Peter I.

It appears the young loxely was correct.

The History Channel is nothing but WWII stories when I watch it... although you do sometimes get something interesting on it. Loxleyhood, either you know a lot about WWII or you get very lucky watching that channel to get something amusing on screen...
