Hm, interesting point. I see where you're coming from in a way as well... my GP in London was quick to stick me on SSRIs after a 5 minute chat, they seem pretty eager. Taking SSRIs if you don't suffer from depression won't really do you any harm physically (all it does is flatten your mood etc), but the emotional implications of being put onto anti-depressants is a kind of chicken/egg scenario. Unfortunately the vast majority of diagnosed deppressives don't take up (or aren't offered) the option of counselling in this country, which is the most direct route to dealing with the problem... both for a 'true' depressive and an 'attention seeker'.

there's a three or four month waiting list for cognitive behavioural therapy at the place i've been sent too, and after having spent the past 3 months on anti-depressants that really don't do anything any sort of help really seems quite impossible

All those big words and you still don't have a fucking clue do you? I wasn't questioning the legitimacy of the condition, as in the people I am talking about it is clear for all to see that there is nothing wrong with them.

I suppose it just goes to show that because you know everything about some things doesn't mean you know something about everything.

I have always fancied a TVR.
They are great to look at, fast etc (imo).
They are also a nightmare to run, they break down and it takes TVR weeks to effect repairs. So I'm not buying a TVR, it would just cause me problems. There are lots of other nice looking, fast and reliable motors available, I'll get one of those

Actually this should be referenced to me as I was the one with the problem, I just couldn't be arsed getting caught up in this depression debate.
Very good advise yuckfou, problem is I did enjoy spending time with her, she wasn't demanding or jealous she was great fun to talk to and hearing her stories about threesomes with other lesbians was also fun unfortunately she changed and isn't fun to be around anymore so what really upsets me is that for those few weeks I had a really good friend but now that friend is as good as gone, never to return. Now I'll never be able to watch episode 2 with remembering the good times we had.

'I have a problem with people who "suffer" from depression'
inference - I have a problem with people who say they suffer with depression, because it's no big deal and it's not really suffering.

You're wrong. Because I, quite obviously, know what I meant better than you do. I was talking about the attention seekers like the one ignus was talking about. Which is what sparked the rant off funnily enough.
