Ok, slightly odd problem, have a mobo bought last year, cpu bought this year ( old cpu now defunct ), old mobo is abit IC7G, new cpu is a prescott 3.2ghz.

Apparently I have to update the BIOS to enable the new CPU to work, does the CPU need to be removed to do this? ( its currently installed ), and if attempted to start just gets to the CPU detect section of the BIOS boot and just bugs out.

I havn't messed with BIOS updates much at all, just wondering how do I actually go about it?
Not my comp, but any help would be appreciated.

Hi ECA

The CPU doesn't need to be removed. The easiest way to perform a BIOS update is to use a Windows-based system, but as this isn't an option your best bet may be to use another computer and create a book disk with the BIOS update on. The instructions provided with the BIOS download should detail how to make the disk and perform the update.

Kind Regards

Jonty

P.S. ABIT have a guide on how to do everything.
