I've been lurking in the bike/car threads since they've been going, and being a biker of 20 years+ I've had most of the pant-filling experiences on a bike (front tyre blowout, going straight over a roundabout, embedding my 600 Katana in the arse end of a tractor, etc). I am now a fair-weather biker. You simply do not get the same buzz in a car - even when complying with all parts of the law/highway code.

Stu/Exor - I can see from the lengthy threads that you are a pair of pompous, self righteous prats who generalise about anything and everything. Can't you accept that if someone wants to tart up a car or ride a bike, thats their choice. It doesn't automaticlly make them a boy racer or whinging biker. And just because we don't all agree with you doesn't automatically mean we are less intelligent - it simply supports the view that you are a pair of inadequate mommies boys.

Looks like stu and exor can be reasonable at times though, I'll give em that... but they can be annoying an'all. Then again, so can I :)

But one thing that was pissing me off is how they kept calling me a boy racer because of my preference in car choice... note that word 'choice' <--- everyones intitled to their own and you really can't argue with that.

Yes. Just like I said in my post. I was never a 'boy racer' - my car was never pimped up with various bits of fibreglass rubbish - but I did drive like an arsehole. I passed my test at 17, and thought I was king of the road. I drove with no regard for other road users, and thought I was invincible. Then I crashed my car. I was involved in two other write offs within 10 days of my crash (at neither of which I was driving), and suddenly realised it wasn't a responsible way to behave. So, basically, I used to drive my car like most of you people ride a bike, but I grew up. Thanks for confirming that.

Yes thanks. I went as a VIP to the British Grand Prix about 6 or 7 times, walked the pit lane, met many people, etc etc. Got boring eventually. Also been to BTCC races. So far this put down of yours isn't going too well...

Putting up a reasoned argument isn't acting all hard. Acting hard is going "lets meet for a fight" or "I hope I meet you one day, you'll be sorry" etc etc.

I understand the reminders from both sides of the argument that "this is an open forum" etc etc but come on. Ban the stupid, I say. :)

my 2 cents worth, is that there does seem to be a lot more idiots on bikes than good riders. And yes the exploits about " riding round a sharp bend at 60 mph sheer drop on one side " blah blah DOES SEEM to indicate that there is a lack of respect on the road.

What was said about bikers making people nervous is very true.

ONLY this morning there was a group of 8-12 bikers passing me. They do make u nervous becuase true to form (and lucky i have reactions like a cat, else the bikers head would have been under my wheel) these bikers were messing about, and one biker decided to go thru the traffic, and cliped wheels with his m8. I slamed on the anchors and his head was about 1/2 foot away. He needed an ambulance and made me late for work, held up traffic for about 30 mins and generally wasted EVERYBODIES Time.

At the time there was a large chemical Fire about 5 miles away, where that ambulance was better needed. (if anyone doesnt belive me look on the news or something www.meridian.co.uk)

I am not going to even think of tarnishing every biker with the same brush. Cuase not everyone is like that.

Same way not every car driver is a boy racer or drives with out respect on the road.

all im saying is that it happens enough to be a problem, and seen as such to the car driving people.

This all sounds like the old qw vs q2 arguement. both sides has its stories.

Its ashame that some seemingly decent people have resorted to out and out flames. (doesnt matter who started it) I personnaly thought this all was done away with in the old Fido net and BBS days.

If anyone would like a good chinwag then fine. if u the biker want to put your view accross then fine. but leave the flames at home pls lads?
