Tbh, this is a stupid argument. Both sides are right that the others are wrong=dead end. Smokers will smoke untill they figure it out on there own that they no longer wont, if they dont they wont stop no matter how much people nag on them. The only thing nagging realy does is make em less eager to stop smoking. I've smoke for ~7 year a pack a day untill one morning I woke up and tought "wtf am i doing this?" threw my pack in the trash and havnt smoke since then. Yes it was a pain in the begining and I realy felt like just going to get more smokes but restrained myself from it. Is just as simple as some do it, some dont. Its all about free choice realy.

i never disupted it wasnt a fact,i never said it didnt kill...again i think its you who needs to go back to school and learn to read properly

Everyone one dies at some point...from something..just because ur told smoking kills...doesnt mean to say that every smoker will die from smoking related illnesses..they just have an higher chance

By smoking you have a much higher chance of dying sooner via things like lung cancer etc etc.

By smoking you are shortening your lifespan and those of people around you if you are not careful with your smoke.

Natsy habit, shudn't be legal in any public place imo, and yes i include pubs and bars in that.

Bit like driving you mean? Those car fumes are a killer, causing cancer, breathing problems and a host of other ill effects. Would you like to see that banned as well? Because the driver is inflicting that on the pedestrian.

With mobile phones what about the low lvl emmissions from those and the transmitters etc? Over the course of years can't be good for you or those in the near vicinity.

Better ban junk foods cos well bit of a problem with bloaters costing the health service millions because they claim they didn't realise eating loads of crap without taking exercise was bad for em.

At least I can go into the ward knowing that over the course of my life as a smoker I will have been taxed upto the hilt for this day, I will not have claimed a pension for as long etc. The fat git next to me will be likely to have been in poor health for the same if not more of his life and would have been up in arms (big fat wobbly arms) if someone had whacked £3.50 tax on his Big Mac.

If there was a widespread demand for non-smoking pubs etc, would be more of them about can't think of a single pub that I've seen that is.

I'm not 100% against a ban on smoking, as it would help me give up, what I am against is someone treating me like a pariah while they are perfectly happy to each junk food, drink themselves to an early grave and harm others while they drive around poisoning everyone with their exhaust fumes.

couldnt of put it better myself....cant do with these "do gooder's" who think its "their" right to tell me what i should be and shouldnt be doing!

and in this day n age where its suppose to be a demoracy....freedom of speech...human rights etc....i strongly object to a Government in my case the English Labour twats...who try and sneak in a law that smoking is gonna be banned in Public places..which includes Bars / Pubs etc.

Yes we all know about the dangers about smoking and the risks...but like mentioned above, there are numerous other "problems" that put ppl at risk everyday just the same as smoking, so maybe some of these crusaders should get off their high horses or you gonna ban everything that harms you?

oh and another thing yes i smoke but am still entitled to free medical care even if it is related to a smoking illness...i dont know how this Government has the bottle to suggest making smokers pay for their treatment..especially when we pay DOUBLE taxes (income & tax on cigs) aswell as National Insurance just like everyone else!

/rant off :p

ban everything. drinkers harm other people when they drive and kill. ban cars because drinkers drive them.

ban busses because it means people wont walk and then they will get unfit. they will get unfit and then get fat. they will get fat and take up a bed for heart treatment rather than poor old joe who got pneumonia but some fat fuck got his bad because he cant walk and bend his arms.

you could ban everything if the only reason is because it harms others. ban sunlight because it gives people skin cancer.

ban self-richeous arguments, where the smokers on one side and the non-smokers on the other side, both _miserably_ fail to see the other sides arguments.

Truth is, there will always be something that someone somewhere will complain about. Smokers have been hunted down like dogs for the last 20 years, and i'm assuming they're not about to stop.

If smoking gets banned, people will do it anyway, and in such a ban the responsible party will make criminals out of _ALOT_ of people.

If, by sheer luck, we ever got rid of smoking, it would be the next item in line.

Same with food. One year Carrots are good for your eyesight, the next it produce cancer. The day after that, milk is unhealthy, and McDonalds claim their burgers are "Good for You".

It's the world's most stupid argument, whatever the subject is.

Smokers should be considerate enough to A: leave the room to smoke, if there are children or pregnant women in the crowd. B: Should leave the room to smoke, if there are people present who feels ill by it.

Non-smokers should be considerate enough to A: Allow the smoker to smoke in the room if it is a well ventilated room, or if the non-smoker is not particularly bothered about it. B: EVERY SINGLE PUBLIC BUILDING or office etc etc who Actively bans smoking in their facilities, should BUILD A SMALL WELL VENTILATED ROOM for the smokers.

Its about fucking getting along, and until both sides accept that everyone has to be here at the same time, this fucking stupid argument will persevere. Long live the narrow-minded and self-richeous!

And for the record, i am a smoker, and have been for 15 years. I do not smoke in my own home unless there's a party with several smokers. I follow the above guidelines 99.9% of the time (ESPECIALLY the one with children - even if the parrents look at me embarrased and say its ok to smoke inside).

Grow some balls to be a well functioning social being with even courtesy to regard other people's feelings. !
