  • Blackhawk Down release on the 19th has had very good reviews in the States.

Mulholland Drive got 5 stars in Empire but I hate David Lynch films so won't bother with it.

On DVD a few gems from last year you may not be aware of but have caused quite a buzz on the net:

  • Shaolin Soccer (buy for £8 from www.dddhouse.com) is certainly the most suprisingly fantastic movie of last year for me.
And this goes out to EVERYONE who hasn't seen it - WATCH IT! (see www.imdb.com for reviews if you don't believe me)

The Road Home available on Region 2 is the most moving and touching film of last year and, IMHO, the best acted and directed.

Both the DVDs are subtitled and in Chinese but still very watchable.

Thats got the guy from Shanghai Noon in it doesn't it? If it does, there's no way I can take the film seriously. I noticed in Shanghai that he has a nose shaped like a penis under certain lighting, and after that it was all I could focus on in any given scene. So i told my housemates, and broke their concentration too. Look closely. You will see what I mean.

No-no, the guy in Shanghai Noon (Owen Wilson) is in Behind Enemy Lines, and not Black Hawk Down.

PS Shanghai Noon is a terrible film :p

It got a limited run in UK cinemas last year.

It is out on R3 DVD and obtainable for the very reasonable price of £8 from www.dddhouse.com which is where I got it from.

I must also pint out that Shaolin Soccer is also obtainable from them for a similar price and is a much much funnier film.

Films..... LOTR if you like that sort of thing or are into cinematography.

Black Hawk Down looks very good as an action film but it'll probably tainted by Hollywood... just like Pearl Harbour.

They'll prolly say they won in Somalia or something.
