Remember those great classic Lucasarts point and clicks? Well a pair of British indie dev chaps have made a couple of games that are very much in the same style. The first - Ben There Dan That - is completely free and a tiny little download, I've been playing through and it's just like the classics I remember, great humour and I personally really like the wonky graphics.

There's a sequel out too called Time Gentlemen, Please which I've not tried yet but promises to be more of the same.

Anyhoo - check them out at Zombie Cow Studios.

Finished the free episode, going to buy the sequel later today. Well worth the paltry £3 if it is anywhere near as good as the first.

You should all try this, funny and old-school. Unlike the sam and max remakes.

Time Gentlemen, Please! Is even more AWESOME and also nearly FREE. Very, very nearly FREE.

Funnier if possible, and the graphics are improved -yes you can change the resolution and use anti-aliasing! You can also set the racism level! How awesome and nearly free!

But don't - I found out that actually fiddling with the resolution doesn't really help matters and actually causes a problem with the fade out effect. Try switching from no filters to 2xResolution anti aliasing mode - you'll notice there's more or less no difference. The game is designed to run at 800x600 natively.

If I run at 800*600 it doesn't look as good, if I run at 2x, it also increases the reolution, and looks less stretched on my monitor.

Very odd - I'm on more or less the same monitor (as far as I recall) and I can't really tell the difference between the 2x and no filters. There's a huge difference between AA mode and Nearest Neighbourhood filter though.

Are you using your LCD screen scaling or your graphics card one?

This went funny for me after the starting credits. Speech bubbles just flickering once and being unreadable. Will have another shot at it tonight.

I get that every now and then - shut down the game and load up again always sorts it.

Remind me - are you on the sammy 24" screen or something else? I've just tried going from standard 800x600 no filters to 1600x1200 with AA and I cannae tell the difference.

Oh well, I guess it doesn't really matter if it works. Are you not having the fade-out problem that I had?

Well it would appear that this entire exchange was a complete waste of time - I thought that fade out problem happened on all systems when you increase the res. Never mind then :).

If it helps, I was using a 32" TV but the game was just running at 640x480 and didn't see an option to change it. :)

Ah, we're talking the sequel Time, Gentlemen Please! Ben There Dan That has the same options though - just go to the install folder and run "Winsetup.exe" to fiddle with options.
