My best friends in work happened to be Catholic, part of my family on my Dads side is Catholic, and some of my best friends are Catholics.

Not likely, given general American intelligence on these issues and the fact that Peter Mandelson has said that Irish Terr's are not to be compared to the likes of Bin Laden, referring to them as "freedom fighters" instead.

The Irish problem is one brought upon themselves, albeit by a minority, but for evil to flourish all it requires is that good men do nothing. In other words, the wankers who try and force children to go to school via another route, which is mind bogglingly fucking retarded, hide behind the general support that their religion offers. And they know they will get it.

Likewise the Terr's, of both sides, use their religion to garner support. If the respective churches threw the fuckers out (excommunication or whatever) then that is a move to try and sort the situation out at least religiously.
But they wont because they are spineless fucking cowards.

The original concept of a military force fighting for a "united Ireland" was created by the "Real IRA", unfortunately these people were Marxists and consequently got absolutely zero support from the catholic majority, in their place came the "Provisional IRA" who are essentially a sectarian organisation.

Similarly, most of the leading figures on the loyalist side are prominant members of the church or religious organisations.

The churches on each side are actually _running_ this conflict, they are highly unlikely to throw people out for doing their own dirty work.

One thing I always wondered, does haveing armed soldiers on the streets actually add to the tension of the whole situation?

We're so wonderfully hypocritical with foreign affairs to be honest. We put up with the whole Irish religion based riots in whats almost our back-yard, for whatever twisted reason; but we front out for the chance to tut and shake our heads at the eastern countries (which are - loosely - fighting over the same thing, disagreements in religion) and tell them off, followed usually by a few soldiers going in to 'keep the peace' (which seems to occur over there much easier than it does in N.I.)

We're also one of the most state-religion based countries remaining on the planet, don't you know. The closest comparable is Iraq, who everyone's shunned, for ages.

I do so hate people. Individuals are all fine and good, but give people a voice and they're only retarded with it.

Never worry about it mate, the vast majority of the place is quiet. It's only the bad areas of Belfast that you get to see on the news every time, and it's always the same areas causing the trouble.

Small tactical nukes are a feasible option in my opinion.

Dont tar us all with the same brush......wasnt it only just in the summer past that there was racial rioting in England?.......Racial........religion is there really any difference. So I could easily say what the fuck is up with all those people in England rioting over the colour of skin...but youd only get fucked off at me tarring you with the same....
