Ireland's troubles have been going for yonkies, so i'm not going to make primitive, badly informed judgements on something that is so historical and complicated. I spent half a year studying it once and even at the end I was no further forward in my understanding of the situation.

However, it seems to me (Source: Media - tinted window) the original problems have been moved aside and 'rent-a-mob' have taken over, with what they believe is a licence to assault/taunt/kill.

The conflicts aren't still going on because the French and the Dutch and the Germans used to stage wars there. No, it's because there's always a ready supply of thugs in any given population to keep a conflict going. Especially when people are validating their opinions by talking of understanding their grievences.

The ironic thing is this recent dispute covers children being sent to a segregated religious school.

Self-segregation, along religious grounds, is the root cause of the problem, it baffles me how people are willing to show sympathy for such attitudes.

I don't have a problem with people practising religion, or people gathering together to share that interest, but when it becomes a trait infecting the society like a virus, when everything has a religious angle, then it has gone too far.

From the BBC report :

He found that 66% of people living in estates are in an area where the population is either 90% Protestant or 90% Catholic. Ten years ago, 63% lived in such communities.

About two-thirds of 18 to 25-year-olds said they had never had a meaningful conversation with anyone from the other section of the community.

Having lived in London all my life, where you have every creed, culture, and colour living together in relative peace (including the Irish), I find this absolutely shocking.

Note this does not mean I support the thugs, I just find it ironic that's all.
