It IS shit. This whole thread and every review ever has been a GLOBAL conspiracy, years in the making, to make you part with fifteen quid for a shit game.

Come on out now everybody. Let's point and laugh. We totally fooled Wazz \o/

God of War is a conspiracy by Sony to make us buy more Dualshock pads, after we have bounced them off the wall with extreme prejudice.

Been playing some of GoW now and it's pretty good.

Some fairly bad flaws at times, such as it not making clear what has to be done at points, and the amount of button bashing is a bit silly. Having to button bash the R2 on the dual shock pads is stupidly hard at times due to the trigger nature of the button. Had a weird glitch on a ledge too which was pretty horrible.

Other than that it's pretty decent. Shame the cutscenes are SD but on the whole it's pretty fun. How does this one rate out of the three?

1, as you say is good but has some really annoying parts and design decisions. The HD version is worse than the orig in this respect as outlined a couple of pages ago. 2 is best as it has far fewer annoying bits. Just a really good game. Not done 3 yet (on my list) but most reckon 2 is better apart from gfx.

Good stuff, just wanted to be sure it did get better as the series progressed.

Took me ages to spot there was a tiny visible bit of rope to cross the gap en route to Aries etc.

Was struggling last night, Rooftops of Athens where the bridge is taken out and you have to climb the moss and jump between pillars etc. All's fine apart from the final jump from the moss to the solid path again, but just couldn't do it. Keep falling short but looking at YouTube videos it's easily made? Very frustrating game.

Similar to the problem I had. Was the Youtube video done on PS2 GoW or HD version ?

Some of the jump mechanics appear to have got fucked up in the conversion. When I originally played on PS2 only the spikes at the end fucked me off. Never had any of these problems with jumps.

Turned out I was taking the game's statements of control too literally. When they mean double tap X, they don't mean double tap, they mean press it twice. Idiots

Quite enjoying it the more it plays, definitely takes a little while to get use to some of the control quirks but it does get a lot better once you do.

Maybe you won't get the problem. I just kept jumping up to the ledge and Kratos wouldn't grab it. For other people it just seems to work fine. Failing that use the glitch :)

(and thx. i am awesome)

Is this the spike room in the cliffs of madness, where you have to drag the block to use as a jumping platform? Struggling at this, you need to be utterly flawless it seems and the control system never seems to latch onto the block totally smoothly.

Also, whoever designed those jumpy narrow pole bits at the top of the Hades challenge room needs opening up

Yep. The controls just don't seem adequate for it. You had at least 2 seconds more on the PS2 version.

Just glitch it like the Youtube vids show.

Yeah I might do, although I've yet to have a flawless enough run for me to concede to it, will give it another go tonight. From what I see/hear it's over 4 seconds more on PS2, which is just plain silly.

Finished this last night, struggled even to glitch the spike room but managed it in the end.

Thought that would be the last of really badly designed tasks until I came accross the rotating spiked poles in Hell. Whoever made the hitboxes larger than the blades is a fucking ****. It's a bit silly that these movement tasks were significantly harder than say the final boss fight. Really enjoyed playing it on the whole though and will go straight into 2.

2 is better.

/edit: Get the Plat first though. Challenge of the Gods is quite frustrating too :)

Couldn't give a fuck about trophies, don't even know what a platinum actually is. :)

Wasn't aware there was anything else to do after game completion either, just shut the game down as I'd been at it a few hours.

Challenge of the Gods is something worth trying. Trophy or not.

Tried it but it didn't really grab me. A couple of hours into 2 and the control system is much smoother, more accurate and generally nicer to use. \o/

This series is pretty addictive, eh.

Got stuck on something again, this time I failed to realise there was a button on the floor.

Stupid bloody game. Embarrass me like that. First one did it too, just completely failed to notice there was a massive ledge to one side of the room. :D

Yes, yes I am.

Did you find that after getting Icarus wings your jumping became frustratingly inconsistent and overly fussy? Some bits are a nightmare, refusing to double jump and inevitably falling to your death as a result. Had a nightmare with that awful bit where you have to pull the levers to float up to a tiny platform you can't see in order to get on the ceiling. Must have tried about 50 times before doing it successfully.

Now I'm at another spike room. The one just before I release the Phoenix. Spike rooms are ghey. :)

Finished 2, started 3 and holy shit does that game look stunning.

A couple of moments where the framerate drops and there's a lack of AA, but wow is it impressive. What an engine.

Lack of AA? GoW3 has the best AA of any console game, ever.
