What is the sudden fad with claiming back your bank charges?

People are totally crazy, i mean quote from the BBC

"The outcome may decide how much banks can charge millions of account holders who go overdrawn without permission."

What the fuck, people are complaining when they aren't even supposed to be overdrawn, fair enough maybe 260 quid for like 90p overdraw is a bit silly, but some people are taking like 2-3 thousand overdraw, then complaining when the bank doesnt like it.

Indeed, i feel sorry for the people who are like under 100 pounds overdrawn, but some are trying to complain thousands of pounds overdrawn and its getting silly really that they feel they should get that back for nothing, its almost like people do it on purpose.

I mean, you go overdrawn 20, 30 quid and then they charge you 25'ish, they did with my mum anyway.

Simple answer, don't spend money you don't have or need to pay bills with....

Start savings for when you may need that odd bill that will take you over (e.g. car repair etc..)

To the OP the issue is banks are imposing a fine which they have no right to do. And the fines they impose have no bearing on the amount it actually costs them.

Well sometimes theese overdrawn issues are out of your controll, i remember when i started DAOC i got subbed 5 times for 1 month, and they tried to get money a few months after i stopped playing.

And remember my first month with my card, was overdrawn with 70 öre (roughly 10 euro cent) didnt see this until i got the next payment cheque and put it in then they wanted a fee of 50 euro. Swapped bank the same day.

For those on a tight budget the excessive bank charges cause problems. If they charge £20-30 if you go into the red, how do you expect to correct the problem when you go overdrawn and add on a huge amount extra even if the amount is quite small?

Personally I've never had a problem with it, obviously neither have you. However it is a problem with many people in difficult circumstances if they're being able to reclaim thousands of pounds back.

Its because being overdrawn authorised or otherwise isn't registered on your credit file.

the bank charges are a joke- my bank account had all its cash stolen (some tard cloned my card, sent it to italy, spent all my money) so i had to use my debit card for a few essential things, and accidentaly went 2.50 over ..2 months later, i get a letter saying i owe £60..as it was my second 'bounce' ...err i didnt even get the first letter now i owe 60quid..daylight robbery right there. i got it all removed though didn't pay a penny, as it wasnt my fault my cash got stolen- some genius put a fake front on ze cash machine =[

The only way i can see this having happened is with knock on charges. So when they put throught the first say £30 charge it put her overdrawn and so charges again and so on and so forth.

As i said there have not been compensation payments only people claiming back charges they have been charged alledgedly illegally by the bank.
